“Lovely hotel, perfect for Las Ramblas and Gothic Quarter, excellent value, perfect for short stays.” The hotel was in a perfect central location off the Ramblas, easy access to attractions, Metro, taxis. Couldn't be more perfect for a first time visit to Barcelona or, if you are a regular visitor like me. I will definitely go back to this hotel....

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at your hotel. I would like to provide you some feedback on the service that we received. This was a surprise trip my husband had booked for a special occasion and I have to say out of all the places I have been, the standards at your hotel were awful. Firstly,...

My husband treated me to this trip to Barcelona. Wow did he do well. This hotel doesn't look brilliant from the outside as the approach is down a small fairly dowdy alley off Las Rambles. Don't be put off. Inside it's a different world, the reception desk is just the start of a wonderful experience. The staff are excellent, helpful,...

We chose this hotel for its location just off the Ramblas, as well as appearing to have a bit of character to the common areas which was nice to come 'home' to, rather than a drab business-style hotel. Despite requesting a quiet room when making our reservations online, we were given a room on the 2nd floor (above Ground floor)...

Came here for a little 4 day trip for my girlfriend's birthday. The location of the hotel is perfect, 100 yards down a little side street off Las Ramblas. The hotel it's self is immaculate and very stylish. The staff were very pleasant helpful through out our stay. Couldn't fault this hotel in anyway, and have recommended it to friends...

This hotel is 100 yards from La Ramblas and on the opposite side of it to the Gothic quarter. The hotel is very well presented and has some lovely features. The room was good, good size a free safe within it, with no view from the window. All the staff were polite and helpful throughout our stay, the room was...

Tucked away just off La Rambla so nice and quiet, but also very easy to get to Metro station and other sights. Very good location if you are foodies (we are!) as it's a 2 minute stroll to that market heaven, La Boqueria. Good tapas and tiny cafe/restaurants/mini markets immediately at hand. Very comfortable with friendly staff. We didn't have...

Great, sleek hotel off of Las Ramblas. Wonderful location, nice decor, great breakfasts. A great base for seeing Barcelona. At the end of the day, you can sit down in the middle of Las Ramblas and order a Sangria and watch the tourists walk by!

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.

The 4 Star Superior Hotel Espana is located in the heart of Barcelona's historic centre, adjacent to La Rambla, the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the Gothic Quarter. Opened in 1859, it was later renovated by the celebrated modernist architect Lluis Domenech i Montaner. The hotel has always been considered a little gem of Barcelona modernism. Completely renovated in 2010, it combines modern interior design with the classicism of a nineteenth century building. The hotel's restaurant service is under the management of the chef Martin Berasategui. ... more   less
