We booked based on the good reviews and location. You are a stone's throw from the Rambla so you have to take into account that at night the nightlife causes a bit of noise until late. Apart from this, the small hostel-style room is reduced to the essentials but always very clean, the shower is excellent! The breakfast in the morning was very good and varied but there was a lack of products for the lactose intolerant. Always available at reception. You can leave your luggage on arrival and also on departure after you have vacated your room so you don't have to carry the trolley with you. The location as I wrote is perfect because you have many attractions and monuments nearby such as the Rambla, the Cathedral, the Picasso museum (if you are lucky you will find free tickets on the site every Monday for the following Thursday). I will definitely recommend Hostal Fernando to my friends! 😊

Fantastic location, good service, and a surprisingly decent breakfast buffet. The rooms are small and very basic with literally no view outside, but on the basis of price and location I would say good value for money. Stayed for one night only with my son and daughter, a twin room and a single. Luggage locker was provided free to store bags after checking out which was very handy.

we stayed three nights and had a very good time. Very kind staff, small but perfectly clean rooms, we asked for the sheets to be changed after the second night and it was done. the location is perfect for visiting the city, two minutes from the Rambla, the market, the metro. excellent and plentiful breakfast with sweet and savory options. They have a room with padlocked lockers to store your luggage on arrival and on the day of departure so you don't have to carry it with you. Their adjacent restaurant is also very good and they give a 10% discount to those who have a room. At the reception they are always very kind and available to give advice and information and even speak a bit of Italian. We highly recommend it.

We stayed at this property in n. 3 with an eighteen year old son and we had a great time. It 's true the room was small but since we only needed to sleep in the evening, we went well! Friendly staff, from the cleaners to those who prepared breakfast and a special thanks to Carlos and Hamid, receptionists, gave us great advice for how to experience the city and in particular how to move. A few meters you rent electric bikes and not, the hospitable is a short distance from the metro, even from the airport to the Hostal we got there by bus, despite not knowing the city. I highly recommend it for those who want to be a vacationer in Barcelona.

My husband and I stayed in this property for 3 nights, unfortunately the room we were given was really different from the photos that appear on the site, in short, a bit of a rip-off, excellent location and satisfying breakfast. Another negative note is that you can't sleep, there's a constant noise coming from the street between rubbish trucks and people screaming. They should be a little more honest and not just put up photos of nice, bright rooms

I stayed 5 nights in April and I have no regrets at all, the staff were great. The location is perfect right in the centre of the Gothic Quarter, and its an amazing price for that. As you'd expect for a more budget hotel my own room wasn't that big but has TV ensuite bathroom and a good size shower. All very clean. There was a communal seating / table area on my floor, a bit disappointing that there was no shared fridge.
While street is a bit thin but can easily be accessed by a taxi, or is a short walk straight from bus / airport shuffle and not far from train station / underground metro stop.
The area is safe after dark still being full of people and with shops, restaurants, bars & takeaways all around you.
The breakfast buffet was great, the only slight downfall for me was that it was not open until 07:30. You get a 10% discount at the adjoined restaurant but I didn't eat there myself.
The one downfall is occasional noise. My room was towards the back so unsure how things would be facing the road, but two days at 5am there was drunken male shouting. The guests however did seem to be a mix of ages so might have been just one group.

A problem arose when I was informed at check-in that I needed to pay a daily City Tax in addition to my prepaid amount to Agoda for the room, even though it clearly showed on my confirmation "Total Charge $xxx.xx Included : Taxes and fees USD $13.19". I received an email from Agoda shortly after check-in stating they'd now been advised of a City Tax and that it was in addition to my prepaid price. Upon check-out I paid the additional tax and since have contacted Agoda requesting a refund from them for the extra taxes since they failed to include it in my "Total". It has been 10 days and I've yet to hear back from Agoda. If the situation isn't resolved soon, I will be contacting my credit card company to facilitate the refund.
Note: I don't blame Hostal Fernando for the unexpected additional charge, Agoda needs to stand by their quoted price which was supposed to include the taxes and fees.
Hostal Fernando is in a great location right off La Rambla. Overall the private room with bathroom was fine, except although the sheets were clean, they had several holes. There was good wifi and the continental breakfast was a decent variety of fruit, pastries, cereal, bread, meats, etc along with an automated coffee machine where you select from different coffee types.

Such a bad experience of that hostal! Do not recommend! Got a cold room and the heat pump didn't work. Power outages on the first night happened number of times. We then complained to reception and were given another room that evening. But the second day we had to change rooms again. Wifi didn't work either! They come into the room (service) even though it was posted on the door that we don't want service inside at that time! Not safe at all. The only advantage of the hostal is that it is in the middle of the city and easy to get to easier places. Never coming back! Oh yes, for breakfast you get NOTHING, no food that tastes good or you can eat! The grade I give this hotel is minus 0.

The location is very good! The price does not correspond considering that they are not very big, breakfast is very late, they open from 7:30 in the morning.
The TV didn't work for me, which is very important to me, the resection guy didn't give me a solution, he just apologized.
Too expensive for what it is !!

This hotel is ideally located in the Gothic Quarter. Two metro lines nearby. Many shops and restaurants. La Rambla very close. The rooms are small but functional. Towels are changed every day (which is too much for my liking). The reception staff are attentive. Now I find the bed linen unsuitable: sheets too narrow. Unpleasant smells of sewage in the room. And above all the soundproofing: interior first (we hear too much the showers taken by customers at all hours of the night). Outside then: garbage collection at 3 a.m.; cleaning sidewalks with a high-pressure cleaner at 5 a.m.; homeless dogs (parked in front of the hotel) barking at night. You should not go to this hotel to sleep. Breakfast is ok
