A perfect example of you get what you pay for. It's a simple place with adequate rooms. Don't expect a beautiful view. But if you want a simple place to sleep then this will do. The rooms and bathrooms are clean enough, perhaps a bit of grime here and there but all the bits that matter were cleaned regularly. Sadly... More

Staying at Malda is like a trip back to the storied time of 1930. The property is old and worn down, and no furnitures match in a stangely charming way. Not for a comfort and excellence of operation, but conveneince of the location and storied charm that one may return to this place.

Delphi the young lady who seemed to be in charge of the hostal was lovely and accommodating. The hostal is easy to get to and in a prime location! The room was spacious and comfortable. However we had one plug which was a nightmare for charging phones and the constant need to have the fan plugged in as no air... More

We stayed here for six nights and we're very disappointed. No hot water, no lights, the hostal was accepting tramps from the streets to stay at the hostal. We had to share a bathroom with others and there was never any warm water or toilet paper provided. Inside the hostal it was dirty with cats. This hostal was poor value... More

I was relieved to find Hostal Malda after my original accommodation was cancelled last minute. The price was far cheaper than anything I could find at the time - however, that should have been a warning. Sub-basic is what you’ll find here so you’ll want to spend as little time as possible in Hostal Malda. Which, oddly enough, can be... More

I have spend there 4 night. The location is perfect- just in the gothic town, few minutes walk from the Cathedral, Plaça de Catalunya, La Rambla street and even walking distance from the sea. Eventhough the owners don't speak English they are very nice and friendly. Really good price even for students. I would totally recommend this place!

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighbourhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night.
