Only stayed one night, great hosts -Marcello & Oliver go the extra mile to make the stay a great stopover. Quirky place very welcoming great attitude. Think warm freindly smaill house & not cold inhospitable standard house & you begin to get the atmosphere all ensconced in tasteful character furnishings. If you can find this place you will be enamoured...

In our first visit to Barcelona, my wife and I appreciated the location close to shops, historic places and restaurants but especially the hospitality of Olivier and Marcelo. They provided a peaceful and thoroughly restful place in a busy city and gave excellent advise on what to do and see during our short 2 day visit. Although we had to...

Wonderful place to stay! I stayed here at the end of a two week interrail trip around Europe with my boyfriend. Two nights in this gorgeous B&B cost less than £100 each and it really is beautiful! Marcelo has renovated an old townhouse in central Barcelona (about 10 minutes away from Las Ramblas) and there are 5 beautifully decorated double...

We absolutely loved this place and would definitely stay again. Our visit was 3 days, September 22nd-25th. Marcelo and his staff we kind and extremely helpful with directions, recommendations etc. The B&B itself is warm and inviting. The rooms and entire floor were decorated extremely well. Marcelo and Oliver go out of their way to make you feel welcome and accomodate you in Barcelona. They were more than happy to give restaurant advice, local knowledge and book us a taxi. The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated. Occasionally the share bathrooms are busy but this never caused any problems. The location in the Borne area is...

For a great stay in Barcelona please stay in this B & B. Perfect location, clean rooms and great service. Close to public transport and it takes 20 min to the airport (costs EUR 20-25) If I need to mention one negative point it's the fact you dont have your own toilet/bathroom, but in all honesty its not a big...

My husband & I stayed at Marcelo´s place for 2 nights and we really like how his place is being decorated. Marcelo was very helpful by giving us an overview of Barcelona and tips on how to avoid pickpockets especially along La Ramblas. He can be really humorous! The location is perfect with train stations just around the corner. You...

I don't know what more to say other than it was fantastic. My boyfriend and I booked 3 nights in October while vacationing in Spain and completely fell in love with the house, the room (we got room #6--I believe--the room right by the kitchen), and the city! Marcelo is wonderful. His english is great and he was so helpful...

Have just had a four night stay at Casa Marcelo which is very conveniently located for the station (Estacio de Franca) as well as buses and metro. We found El Born area an extremely nice area to stay in, with lots of shops, bars and restaurants (including a couple of vegetarian ones) a short stroll away. Marcelo was very welcoming...

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighbourhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
