This hostel is a must stay. The staff here are amazing! They treat you like family and speak English perfectly. Lockers in each room provide great security. Nightly activities run by the staff foster a sense of community. Located right near the harbor and the southern entrance to La Rambla. Laundry available downstairs, with a kitchen and quick WiFi. This small hostel has a cosy feel to it. The staff are nice and really takes care of you. Giti, one of the staff gave me good tips on safety when I was heading out alone at night. It shows how caring they can be. The room is brightly colored and feels cheery. It can get a little noisy at...

My friend and I stayed at the Albarada Youth Hostel for a week while we visited Barcelona in mid March. What attracted us was that it was one of the least expensive hostels and it had one of the highest reviews on hostelworld.com. The hostel is very clean from the kitchen to the bathrooms. There is breakfast from 8-10, the...

This was a serendipitous choice. I stumbled upon this youth hostel by chance and could not have found a better place to stay. The people are very nice. Guiti immediately asked me if I would like a coffee and something to eat after arriving and introduced me to other fellow travelers. After a few nights I met the entire staff......

Let me start this off by saying that Albareda Youth Hostel contributed to the best weekend of my recent life. We started off at the Hilton at Diagonal Mar and weren't comfortable there at all, especially for the price we were paying. The next day we woke up and headed to the hostel and were welcomed with open arms by...

Staying in Montjuic

Neighbourhood Profile
Montjuic
Beyond the four columns standing guard at the Plaça Espanya, beyond even the extravagant and colourful fountains guiding your way up the boulevard, stands the impressive and towering structure of the Palau Nacional, the national museum. At this very spot in front of the cascades of the central fountain, Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe gave the performance of their lifetimes to welcome the 1992 Olympic Games to this magnificent city. And true to its anticipation, the games transformed the city, reimagining the mountain of Montjuic with the development of an arena, stadium, and many other sporting facilities that are open to visitors year-round. Surrounding the adjacent side of the plaza are well-established hotels catering to business guests and a shopping mall transformed out of a historic bullfighting arena.
