Quaint, creaky and utterly charming. This place is about as basic as it gets, and lacks just about everything you'd normally expect, but it's in a wonderful old building, in a quiet, elegant and safe part of town. It's basically a family-run pension in an unrestored modernista building, and the building itself is full of period charm - rickety old...

We arrived earlier than expected and woke Maria up, she was so nice about it though. she took our bags and looked after them for us until check in on the afternoon. When it was actually check in time she annotated a map for us with all the local places on it, where the old town ends, where all the...

I am currently enjoying my fourth and final night staying here in the "superior twin/ double room" with my mum for a first time city break to Barcelona. We were certainly not dissapointed. I initially chose the Hostal based on the location, and the fact that it had a private en suite bathroom- something hard to find in the city...

This is the third time that I have stayed here. This place is great, close to Passeig de Gracia, Plaça Catalunya and Sagrada Familia. Very good for shopping or sightseeing. There is a metro stop nearby and plenty of bars where you can inexpensive breakfast or lunch. Big thanks to Maria, she was very nice explaining to me everything that...

I have just spent 5 days at Hostal Martina and have loved it here. I had a large room with original tiled floor and decorative plaster work ceiling, plus my own bathroom, plus a little balcony out the quieter side at the back of the building. Yes it was hot and no air con, but A fan was supplied, so...

I really loved this! I have been staying in massive share bunkbed rooms for the past 2 months, so when I got to Barca I wanted to upgrade for a couple days to a private room... I can only attest to what I saw: the bedroom I had had beautiful stained glass windows, a balcony, quaint furniture, a super comfy...

The owners are lovely, very helpful and welcoming. When we arrived we were shown on maps where we were, how to get back and how to get the main attractions - my friend speaks Catalan and Spanish so this was really helpful. We stayed in a double room which had one double bed and one single, we were asked if...

We stayed at hostel martina for 4 nights in may. The room was large and clean but as others have said, very basic for the price paid. The bathroom was also very small. We stayed at the back of the hostel where we were told it would be quieter - however, it was very loud during the day and sounded...

I stayed a few times in this place, seduced in the first place by its Modernist setting (I go to Barcelona for work once a month) and with no time to search for somewhere else. The place is basic but not too big and has two nice exterior rooms (the rest are interior, most of which have no outside window)....

First of all your photo is not this property ! We visited in September so prices were about 30 per cent .higher than usual,so on hindsight overpriced for this property . If your a light sleeper you can forget about a good night sleep ! With groups outside your window and rubbish bin collectors making themselves known very early. We...

Staying in Eixample

Neighbourhood Profile
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognisable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognised architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.
