We had such a great stay at the beginning of our trip to the Camino that we booked on our way back too despite the higher cost due to the weekend. Alfredo was a magical host- caring, smart and intuitive to our needs. We walked the Camino and a gracious front desk attendant suggested a massage which was just the ticket. Sheets, towels and delicious soap/shampoo provided a full 14 hour rest for a weary pilgrim and the location gave my more energetic spouse somewhere to go. Steps away from every shop, museum and restaurant but absolutely silent at night. There is no place better in Barcelona and as a frequent world traveller? Maybe the world but I’ve not found it yet.

Dear Z3577SUhollym Thank you so much for your amazing review! We are thrilled to hear that you had such a great stay at the beginning of your Camino trip that you chose to stay with us again on your return. It’s wonderful to know that Alfredo made such a positive impact with his caring, smart, and intuitive service. We are also delighted that our front desk attendant’s suggestion of a massage was just what you needed after your walk. It’s great to hear that our bath linen and soaps provided you with a full 14-hour rest, and that our location offered plenty of options to explore. Your kind words about our hotel’s quietness at night and proximity to shops, museums, and restaurants mean a lot to us. We are honored by your high praise and thrilled to be considered the best place in Barcelona, and possibly the world, by a frequent traveler like yourself. We look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit! Warm regards Marta Alamany, GM Catalonia Magdalenes Hotel, Barcelona

Our first time in Barcelona and this hotel was amazing! The staff, particularly Adam, went above and beyond anything I have experienced from staff at a hotel, even walking us to the metro station to ensure we found it okay and helped us purchase tickets. Adam recommended some fantastic restaurant choices that we never would have found if not for him. Adam was always happy to help and ensured all of our needs were met. Tatiana was extremely helpful with getting us booked in ensuring that the hotel met our needs. The hotel was spotless, we really appreciated the coffee maker/tea kettle in the rooms to get us going in the mornings. The spa area was an unexpected bonus, and it was the perfect way to relax after exploring Barcelona. We went to the roof top area aswell, and on a warmer day, it looked like a great spot. The hotel is in the perfect location to explore the Gothic area of Barcelona. We stayed in an interior courtyard facing room, as we read those were quieter. The beds were comfortable, the shower was hot. I would book here again for our next trip to this great city!

I selected this hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews and I was not disappointed. Check in was easy. The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. Martin and Adam were the most memorable because they just seemed to always be there to help. I had forgot what I researched when booking this hotel and was very impressed when we checked in. They have displays of original rock from the Roman aqueduct in the lobby. There is a small bar in the lobby when you are waiting for check in. The basement level has a buffet breakfast that includes cook to order items and a nice selection of prepared foods. The roof top has a small bar and a very small pool if you want to enjoy some sun during your stay.
I booked a lower priced room which meant that it was smaller but it was very functional. There was no wasted space in the room but it had plenty of space for a couple. The bathroom was roomy with a large shower, hair dryer and a towel warmer.
Keep in mind that this is Europe and the power outlets are 220VAC.
The location of this hotel is walking distance to so many things including shopping, food and so much more. I was really amazed with my time in Barcelona because I never thought about needing a cab to go somewhere. We actually walked everywhere and had a great time.
This hotel will be on my list of options for my next visit to Barcelona.

Good service Good facilities Good location Good staff (thanks Simo:) ) But, cleaning time is late.
I used this hotel on a business trip. The best thing about the hotel was its location. The city is beautiful and there are many ruins and famous and delicious restaurants around the hotel. Furthermore, there is a subway station and a bus stop within 5 minutes' walk, so it is easy to get anywhere in the city. If you take a walk around the area early in the morning, you will be able to appreciate the wonderful cityscape in a different color. I would personally use this hotel again if I were coming for sightseeing. However, the room cleaning service can be very slow if you do not request it. Also, the shower water comes out extremely hot and cold, so it is sometimes difficult to adjust the temperature. The staff is very family oriented and breakfast is served from 07:30 and is delicious.

We have just returned from a 4 night stay and are so happy with our choice of hotel. The staff are friendly, the hotel is absolutely spotless and the roof top bar a perfect place to enjoy a cocktail at the end of a day of sightseeing. The mojitos and old-fashioned come recommended. There is also a small gym and spa with a couple of loungers which was great for popping in to cool off as the jacuzzi is of a cooler temperature (towels are provided). There was also a steam room in this area. Our room was modern with a coffee machine (with good quality coffee pods), kettle, mini bar and free safe. The bathroom had a good shower, amazing smelling toiletries, hairdryer, weighing scales (they didn't get used but good for suitcase weighing maybe!) but note there are no dressing gowns. We normally stay in the Poble Nou district but this is the perfect location for being on the doorstep of everything touristy without being on a busy street. We are sad to have left and can't wait to visit again and have recommended to others.

I absolutely love this hotel. The staff gave service better than the 5 star hotels I have stayed in, in Barca. ( Tatiana, Laura and really- all of them! I could list each one as I was there for 5 nights) From check-in to check-out each staff ( lobby, housekeeping or patio/pool) made us smile, feel welcomed & helped with any ask. Plus they helped me work on my Spanish, but don’t worry they speak whatever language you need.
Room was bright, with comfortable beds (recovering from herniated discs), showers& bathroom provided privacy. It was a long design with two beds so it had windows facing the courtyard & facing the street and we found it quiet. The hotel is on quiet streets so noise is minimal.
Hotel is perfectly situated to walk everywhere, easy to get to using the A1 bus from the airport ( best option! Easy to figure out as it’s the last stop. Recommend 100% & I usually take the metro/taxi but no more!)
Pool was lovely to escape to for a quick break and they make the patio beautiful with shade options.
I will absolutely book this hotel again! I’ve stayed at a few 3,4,5 star hotels in Barca over the last 5 years and this is 100% my favourite.
A huge Muchas Gracias to the whole team at CM for making our friend get-away so perfect!

Stayed in a 3 bed room, with absolutely comfortable beds and a very clean bathroom. There was a small balcony in the room, although not specified (a positive surprise). The hotel has a small rooftop pool and bar, as well as a ground floor bar with sensational sangria. The breakfast was extensive and had some highlights to offer with freshly prepared omelettes and freshly squeezed orange juice. The spa area is small, but offers enough space for the size of the hotel. We were in the pool twice and in the steam bath once and there was always at most one other couple in the room. The location is excellent as the hotel is less than a 5 minute walk from the main square and is still a bit away from the hustle and bustle. So it was in the Gothic Quarter, but still quiet.

When looking for a hotel for a short holiday in Barcelona, we found the Catalonia Magdalenes online. The pictures and nightly room rate seemed too good to be true. We rolled the dice and made reservations. From check-in to departure, the hotel and staff were constantly a pleasant surprise. The rooms were attractively decorated with the bed and amenities being perfect. The staff was extremely helpful at all interactions with a special shout out to Adam and Niya who were both helpful, pleasant, and a joy to be around. The location was very central, and we navigated much of the city with ease. On top of all of this, the nightly room rate was great - to the point we were nervous we would arrive and the hotel would be "too good to be true". Well, it was great and it's true! The next time I'm in Barcelona, I'll be back!

We just spent a wonderful 6 nights in Barcelona at the Hotel Catalonia Magdalenes. The location of the hotel was perfect for exploring in and around the Gothic Quarter with plenty of restaurants and attractions nearby. The room was perfect size for a couple with a comfortable bed and pillows, it had a very relaxing rainfall style shower. From the moment our taxi dropped us off Simo the bellman was outside to take our luggage and Nadia made our check-in a breeze. Simo always greeted us with a smile and excellent conversation whenever coming or going from the lobby. Sergi at the front desk gave us amazing directions and other tips on attending a match at Camp Nou which was such a great help. 100% recommend this hotel and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again when returning to Barcelona.

Fantastic 4 night break staying at this hotel!! It is an excellent location within Barcelona, far enough away from the hustle and bustle of La Rambla but ideally situated for all of the main tourist attractions. The hotel itself still feels brand new and is undoubtedly the most spotlessly clean hotel I have ever stayed in! Despite there being 62 bedrooms, the breakfast area never felt too busy and the offerings were always delicious. We particularly enjoyed the rooftop pool and bar, where we were well looked after by Silverio and Sara - who made sure our drinks were always replenished with a smile.
We were absolutely blown away on the second day when we returned to our room to find a birthday cake, card and bottle of bubbly had been left for our Daughters 16th birthday! We hadn’t mentioned it, so it was so kind and thoughtful of the staff to arrange that.
All of the staff were very friendly, but special mention has to go to Adam - whether he was chasing taxis down the street for us, giving sightseeing advice or teaching me about the Spanish electricity companies ?!? - he was always on hand for anything needed! Top guy and first class at what he does 🙌
We’ll definitely be back to Barcelona and this hotel will be the first booking we make.

Dear Gary Thank you for sharing your fantastic experience at this hotel! It sounds like you had an amazing stay, with the hotel’s excellent location providing a perfect balance between tranquility and accessibility to main tourist attractions.
