Really interesting hotel, felt like stepping back in time. The room was a good size with a comfortable bed and adequate bathroom. It was a peaceful place to retreat to after a day of walking around Toledo. The breakfast was convenient and edible, cheeses, hams, tortillas, breads with juice and coffee. I enjoyed my stay, loved the uniqueness of the...

This was supposed to be the highlight of our trip to Spain to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. We had booked a suite with terrace view over the old walls. The room was lovely as anticipated, but on either side workmen were renovating each room noisily and with foul smelling paint, etc. On drawing the problem to the staff's attention...

If you are a history buff, this hotel is for you. It was originally a Cardinal's palace and is built right into the old city wall of medieval Toledo, Spain. The hotel is in an excellent location and is full of antiques and charm. One word of caution, there are lots of steps getting up to the hotel once the...

The hotel is, like the town, full of charm and peace. It is full of quaint corners and lounges and even a nice Moorish courtyard in which to read a book or catch up with email. It is a little gem set in a former Cardinal's palace and very comfortable. Its situation by the Bisagra gate makes it easy to...

This hotel could be among one of the best, situated as it is in the walls of Toledo with charming garden and courtyards. However no trouble is taken by the rather unhelpful staff to make ones stay memorable. Our room was basic but fine with a very small bathroom with thin small towels and poor toiletries...no tissues. No drinking water...

My husband, a friend and I were, enchanted by this hotel, whose inviting entrance is in the walls of Toledo. The former summer residence of Cardinal Lorenzana, Archbishop of Toledo in the 18th century, is set in beautiful gardens and offers comfortable accommodation to its guests. We loved the original architecture and feel of the buildings. We enjoyed an excellent...

Our family of four stayed in two adjoining rooms looking into the inner courtyard. We loved the old building, the sparse decor and the comfy beds, and the sounds of the church bells nearby. Breakfast was fine too. Loved the free Wi-Fi (essential for the teenager), the location was good for walking up to the old city or riding the...

My wife and I stayed in this historic property set in a quiet location against the ancient city wall near the Bisgara gate. there are extensive, peaceful gardens where are located the bar and restaurant. In foul weather there are indoor locations for both. Our room was standard and rather small, as was the bathroom, which contained a bidet. The...

The building and grounds are beautiful and unique. Rooms retain historic charm but are modern. Only had one quick night here, but would come back both to spend more time in Toledo and to relax at this property. Firm beds, windows open, modern bath. Computer for guests in the lobby was convenient for catching up with email on vacation and...

To be fair to this hotel, you need to know what you are getting into before your stay. This is the converted residence of a Cardinal built into the stone walls of the ancient city. Your not getting a five star hotel with all of the modern amenities. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful with stonework and gardens. Yes,...
