A truly beautiful traditional Carmen in such a fantastic location. Located up some fascinating narrow pedestrian streets the views of the Alhambra from here are absolutely incredible. Even the walk there is a great experience. Priced a little lower than other similar properties we found this old family building to so much more personable and charming, and the can be said for the warm and friendly hosts as well. Great breakfasts and a lovely back garden area were big bonuses as well.
We stayed here 2 nights during our honeymoon. The house was super charming and authentic. The owners make you feel welcome and the staff was super helpful and serviceminded. The interior is old but charming. The rooms were clean and we enjoyed a room with a rooftop terrace with a view to Alhambra. Perfect hotel for a romantic stay in Granada!
We were interested in seeing Albyzin, a Moorish place updated with Christian Renaissance and Spanish Baroque constructs. Albyzin is full of narrow winding streets and alleys. It has enormous charm as a medieval town. We live in the heart of Silicon Valley, California and cannot get a decent wireless signal. We were amazed to find widespread WiFi across Albyzin, in the public square especially. . The hotel is quite historic, dating back to the 12th and 13th centuries, with upgrades in the 1600's to suit a wealthy merchant. We enjoyed our stay. The hotel was comfortable and the staff was attentive and helpful with historic information. Albyzin is across the little river Darro from the Alhambra. The one way streets can take you miles out of your way. It was a short walk to the main square from the hotel, but if you took a cab it routed al the way back through central Granada. So, if you stay at the hotel, drag your luggage to the square and catch a cab there.…
The lady and her husband who run this place are wonderful. She was such a delight and we felt like we were staying in their home with a large private quarter. We had a 2BR with den and 1 bath. The building is in the Alabacin so it is of course old. Unfortunately there were 3 issues -- 1. They don't answer phone because they don't speak English (but we spoke Spanish, still couldn't get through on phone and it was hard to find and we needed to come late), 2. There is a night club on the block and sound resonated through bricks until 5am; 3. The lady said she hadn't paid by hotels.com. She didn't ask us to pay (we had already paid hotels.com for non-refundable 2 nights, even though we couldn't get there in time for check-in and only stayed 1 night), but we told her we would contact hotels.com. If night club is closed and you can find the hotel, this place is great for 2 adults, 2 kids. No wifi to our knowledge…
We arrived to a totally closed hotel. I had booked the room a month in advance, but no warning was given to me what so ever. Both the website and phone number was shut down when we arrived - and there was no way to contact the owners. Worst hotel experience ever. Avoid at all cost!
This is a converted multistory home that is beautiful inside with a large central sitting area that looks up four flights. It is all stone and dark wood and absolutely gorgeous with an outside patio where you can relax after a long day and sip tea and have a snack all provided on the house. We were very pleased with their night manager Alex who was extremely personable and made us feel like family. Ask Alex to join you for your tea and he will tell you all about Granada which he loves. The room we had was one of the top ones which open out onto a rooftop deck with a stunning view of the Alhambra. Definitely get up there sometime during your stay. The room was very large and neat and clean. It was like staying in your own home. Breakfast is extra and a bit pricey. It is continental in nature but comes with fresh squeezed orange juice fruit, cereal, slice ham and cheese and several breads. The only parking is about a 10 minute walk away. It is a bit hard to find but if you walk East along the river to the Frontera Bar and then up the stairs in front of the bar you will find the small alleyway called Cobertizo de St Inez. Turn right and the hotel will appear on your left in a block or so. Knock on the door for entry. If you will be late, call ahead so that someone can let you in. There is also free internet. We would definitely go back!…
This hotel is in the heart of the city attractions and about a 10 minute cab drive to Alhambra for about 8 Euros. This hotel has limited on site staff time so make sure you coordinate your arrival time. There is no on site parking and you will have to either find a parking garage about 10 minute walk away or street parking which is very limited. We had to navigate the very narrow streets full of people to drop our luggage off before my husband went to find parking about 10 minutes away. You will have to haul your luggage up 2 small flights of stairs. This hotel offers breakfast for 8 euros but we did not order it so cannot rate it. Our room had a beautiful view of the Alhambra (make sure you get tickets online way in advance). The room is small and has all your need except a safe so you will have to get creative on how to protect valuables. The restroom is a good size with good water pressure. The room temperature is fine and although I loved this charming place my complaints are with the hard bed and how the noise carries throughout the home since we are light sleepers. This being said we would stay here again because the central location.…
after locating the shiny wooden door and pulling the bell rope I was greeted by a lovely friendly girl. the inside was a big wow! when taken up to my room I could not believe the size and décor, all antiques with polished floors and steps up to a big bed. opening out to the large roof terrace with the most amazing Alhambra views. Can not find fault with the casa or the staff and location but maybe a mini bar so you don't need to always go out for a drink would be icing on the cake
Staying at the Carmen del Cobertizo was pure joy. We could not have imagined what a lovely hotel this would be. Perhaps, first and foremost, because it felt like a privilege to stay in the home of such a refined and elegant Spanish family. Our compliments to the host and staff.
Our 2 night stay was perfect, it is a lovely place not like a hotel more like a grand Spanish home with a nice garden to enjoy breakfast in, lovely ensuite bedrooms and very well run by the friendly family. We would love to stay here again and would not hesitate to recommend Carmen del Cobertizo.
