Having stayed in the area previously, we were wooed by the impressive glass elevator, leading from the promenade. With such a beautiful view, we found it and booked for 2020. With only a few weeks to go, we were requested to bring the balance in cash - then the pandemic arrived. Without any warning, the balance was taken from our bank account and that should have spelled danger. I know that there are several apartments rented out so I will be specific. This was 1429 let by waterfront homes Malaga. They remained in touch. Prices changed and as the time approached this year, we arrived, a little apprehensive, with €350 deposit and they asked for a further €352 which we owed but we insisted, rightly that all fees were paid. They had asked for card details again but, once bitten twice shy. There should have been 2 couples going but happily, there was only us. We weren’t met my anyone we had communicated with. Actually, we weren’t met by anyone. We had to use Google translate and call one of the ‘reps’ to address the deposit issue and obtain the keys. The people at reception were loathe to show us the flat so we found it. At 1st glance it was adequate if not tired. Everything seemed to work and the view was stunning. There were no instructions, directions or tips, for anything. We had to message to get the WiFi code (which was wretched quality). It was advertised as 6 people, 2 queen sized beds and a bed settee. There were only 2 sets of bedding! The mattresses in the 2 beds made orthopaedic seem like marsh mallows. There was 1 pillow in total that made for a restful night. The window poles were rusty, there were missing sockets, a glass window in the 2nd bedroom missing (with broken glass in the hinge/clips, chipped crockery, a large corner of the shower basin bodged back on with adhesive, pocket doors fitted which meant going through was done sideways, wardrobes badly assembled, the drains in both en-suites smelled and when one was flushed, part of the contents ended in the other. Although clean on the surface, this apartment with huge potential had been flogged to death. We had to use the main entrance, to find the beach and find the route back up to the room with no help. If we hadn’t an idea of the area, this would have been very difficult. As the week went on, we tired of the discomfort and tatty surroundings and booked a hotel for the last 2 days. We informed the company who asked us to leave the keys, give our bank details and they would refund the deposit in a few days, after cleaning. We reminded them it was a cash deposit and we would collect that back. Until then, we would keep the keys. They reiterated and we were resolute. The apartment was cleaned and other than threatening us with the police, communication ceased. Ironically, we feared that we would never see our deposit, before giving it. Other reviews tell a similar story. The real issue is, that we have 2 keys. Others may have done similar in the past and I’m certain that the company is not likely to change the barrel and expensive dimple keys. I don’t know how many parties are involved with this let but there is a scam in place somewhere. I’m sure that there are other apartments in the block well maintained but not this.…
Stayed at an apartment in Castillo Santa Clara on la Carihuela beach just last week at the grand cost of 995 euros for one week, the photos looked amazing unfortunately the reality was quite different. On checking in we noticed the door frame was badly broken and had been fixed to an extremely poor standard, there was no WiFi and the drawers containing every utinsel was stuck and would not open, we pointed everything out to the person handing over the keys but he was very unhelpful. He told us he would return with the wifi code which he did 6 days later at which stage we were packing to leave. The company homes waterfront malaga have since refused to return our 300 euro damage deposit stating we have broken the door. So beware if using these people they have no scruples and my advice is photograph everything when you arrive and don't trust just telling them as the are very devious.…
Castillo de Santa Clara is a huge apartment building right at the seafront of Torremolinos, ideally located for a stay at the beach, and within walking distance from the main shopping, nightlife and restaurant areas of the town. However, be sure to carefully check what precise apartment you are getting. The state of equipment and renovation can vary quite significantly. Apartment 108, where I stayed, was pretty run-down and shabby. Airconditioning was not complimentary and needed to be paid by the hour. There was no WIFI, only the general WIFI of the building which is very weak and can be caught only on the balcony, at the reception and in the pool area. The towels in my apartment were such poor quality that one could hardly use them. Unfortunately, the swimming pool of the compound (which is very nice as such) was not accessible, only open as from June 1st. Other apartments which I was able to see with my own eyes (such as 515, 612 and 712) were much nicer and more modern. Value for money cleary depends on what precise apartment you are getting and what landlord you are dealing with. So watch out!…
We stayed in apartment 1329 it was perfect, the view is amazing and the apartment is very modern and spotlessly clean, it has everything that you need and more, Juan the owner is so helpful a lovely man. The location is brilliant, lovely pool and little bar on site. Couldn't ask for more, we have stayed in many places but this was the best, absolutely amazing.
Had an apartment and it was great.the apartment was lovely, clean and comfortable.the view was outstanding looking to Malaga, staff were lovely and very helpful.near train station and buses .would highly recommend it
Castillo de Santa Clara is not a hotel it is an apartment complex from the seventies perfectly situated in La Carihuela between Torremolinos and Benalmadena only ten minutes from the airport. It is a large complex of predominantly Spanish owned apartments many available to rent. Quiet area with twenty four hour manned reception, very secure with key card entrance and direct lift access onto the promenade and beach with bars/restaurants and shops. There is a gated swimming pool which is quite deep and a small baby pool all surrounded by gardens with trees for shade where most of the Spanish families sit on folding chairs. Sunbathing area with some sunbeds - not many, at three euros each per day and a fabulous view up the coast to Benalmadena. Reasonably priced pool bar/restaurant. Reviews are for the complex not individual apartments my review is for apartment 1335 Waterfront Santa Clara 4 a two bed two bath sleeps six which we booked through Hotels.com for three weeks at a cost of 6000 euros. The agent Waterfront have six apartments in this complex. The Santa Clara 4 apartment is modern bright white with the lovely flooring going out through the sliding doors onto the balcony which looks out over the beach and sea and sitting there watching the world go by you cannot help but be seduced by this apartment. Our problems started when we arrived and had a quick look around whilst the agent was there and found the second ensuite bedroom was an internal bedroom with no window or ventilation, had we known this we would never have booked this property. We were also annoyed at the state of the crockery which was cheap chipped Ikea crockery, we had to ask for 5 new plates and a bowl we do not eat from chipped crockery. Premium Egyptian cotton linen and down duvets give the impression of a luxurious bed what we had was a comfy bed with ordinary white sheets and flat Ikea pillows no duvets but none required. Bathrobes also gives the impression of luxury extras but none were provided and the bleach stained bathmat was an insult. We paid fifty euros for a cot but no linen provided apparently we should have taken our own. We have rented other privately owned apartments and always had a weekly linen change included but this would have been an extra 30 euros. In the kitchen the utensils were mismatched and did not include the basics like a tin opener or vegetable peeler/small sharp knife. There was only five sets of cutlery and when we pointed this out in one of our emails we were told we only had to ask - No the agent should check everything is fit for purpose before each rental. The beautiful leather three seater settee which pulls out into a double bed, and the easy chair both look as the photos but were covered in throws - understandable because of suncream etc but we didn't think they were clean enough and had to wash them. There is a modern dining table and four chairs and on the balcony there is a white plastic table and four chairs and a clothes airer. All ideal for our party of four adults one child and one infant but I can't imagine six adults in this apartment. From day one we had problems working the air conditioning and called the agent to ask for instruction as we thought we were doing something wrong. We were surprised when he arrived with an engineer who decided after much deliberation that the new system was still under guarantee and they would need a visit from a technician. We think the agent new about the problem before we arrived or else why would he bring an engineer? They left us a floor standing fan and a mobile unit with a three pin British plug on it in a Spanish apartment with two pin plugs !! Neither were satisfactory and the aircon was never repaired in our three week stay which made the internal bedroom even more uncomfortable and cave like. Look out for extra charges for the aircon all the info said it was included but a week before our stay we received an email from Waterfront which said if we used more than 10kw per week we would be charged. We feel the apartment lacks all the luxuries it should have for the expensive price and having no aircon while we were there we requested a 25% refund. Waterfront have refused and Hotels, com keep referring us back to them. We have rented wonderful privately owned accommodation before always paying in advance and never had a problem.…
The accom is self-catering rooms. The rooms are 1 room plus bathroom, if you want a separate bedroom don't book. Rooms are clean with everything you would need to self-cater. Staff helpful and polite.
Apartment very nice, swimming in the afternoon the last 2 days was horrible. Came across sanitary towels, condoms, plasters, dental floss. On return to the apartment I could see why, there is clearly a discharge pipe going out to sea directly in front of this apartment block. Horrible , not going in the sea again here, sticking to the pool.
We stayed for 5 nights over Christmas. It was the most peaceful place. The host was lovely. And the apartment had every thing you needed.so quiet. Comfortable and clean. In a brilliant location for all the restuarant and shops.
Very nice place, we had an apartment overlooking the sea which provided lovely views. Pool area very clean and the little bar / cafe was decent and very good value. Private stairs and lift to beach is very handy. Beach clean and adjacent.
