Myself and my wife are absolutely enjoying staying here for our wedding anniversary . Antonio at reception was the first person we met . He was extremely professional as were all the staff we have met . We are staying in a lovely large bright bedroom with a balcony overlooking the pool and the sea beyond . No complaints about the food which is excellent and varied to suit most tastes . The hotel has numerous facilities . A mixture of good family sryle entertainment available every night . As the hotel is situated on the promenade it offers the opportunity to stroll along and enjoy the scenery . We are here right now in january but are already planning to come back in the spring . Thank you to the management and all the staff for making wonderful memories of our stay .
Stayed 1 week in August. If you're looking for a peaceful, spotlessly clean hotel with friendly staff, good food and excellent sea front position close to beautiful marina, look no further. Great value for half board. First time at this hotel but definitely not the last. We hope to go again next year. We had a wonderful holiday.
Fabulous hotel just back from my 3rd trip in 6 months this hotel is in the perfect location and the food is amazing. I’m a fussy eater and the food is stunning staff are so helpful and friendly. Can’t wait to be back again soon x
My parents are currently staying here and I emailed the hotel with a special service request. They couldn't have been more helpful and I know my parents are delighted with the hotel too. Muchos gracias
This was our second time at the Riu Nautilus and we were not disappointed. The hotel is well located, spotless and the staff are friendly, professional and could not be any more helpful. We spent New Year’s Eve there and the gala dinner the hotel organised was fabulous. Well done Nautilus - we will return again.
Transfer We took a taxi from the airport which took approximately 15 to 20 minutes and cost 22 Euros. Check-in / reception We arrived at 12 noon and were warmly greeted by Javier with a glass of Cava and orange juice which was a nice touch and overall check-in was friendly and efficient. We were told that our room would not be ready until 2:30pm, so we left our cases in the secure luggage room and headed out for lunch. We returned at 2:30pm and as promised our room was ready. We had requested in advance by email direct to the hotel reception a room on a high floor with sun on the balcony in the afternoon (rooms facing right looking towards Benalmadena with the sea in front of you). The reception area is a large bright open area with plenty of seating and a useful large touch screen electronic information board situated by the lifts. The Room We appreciated having been allocated a room on the 6th floor (in the main building) but unfortunately it was facing Torremolinos so it did not get any sun on the balcony at all during January. Our room was directly over the rear service entrance and recycling bins and had views to the left of the mountains in the distance, the Buensol Appartments directly opposite and great views of the sea to the right. Our room was bright and in good order, had lots of storage space and two comfortable single beds. There was a good size safe (at a charge of 2.25€ per day) in the wardrobe that was big enough for a 11.6” laptop. A table with 2 chairs, fridge, kettle with tea and coffee making facilities etc. and a full length mirror (that could really do with a light above it). The WIFI was very good although we only used it for browsing and checking emails. The cleaning / maid service. We thought that the standard of cleaning of our room was excellent, a special thanks to our maid Carmen who did an excellent job (we noticed the difference on her days off!). Our room was thankfully very peaceful with no noise from the neighbours. The Bathroom The bathroom was a good size with two sinks and included a miniature conditioner, body milk, soap and a hair dryer. The lovely large walk-in shower had disappointingly poor water pressure and could be quite slippery. There was a pump dispenser with shower / hair gel and a separate area with a bidet and toilet. As others have mentioned the towels are thin and far from luxurious but did the job. The Balcony Good size and very private from the neighbours, with 2 chairs, small table and a useful pull out clothes airer. Upon arrival one of our chairs was badly split which we reported to reception and was replaced by a polite maintenance guy within a couple of hours which was impressive. The Restaurant The restaurant is large and we found the main area very noisy, even in January. Fortunately there was a very nice quieter heated Alfresco dining area which we really liked especially at breakfast with lovely views of the sun rising. We thought that the food was of a very good standard for both breakfast and dinner and there was also a microwave available for those who like their food hot. We found all of the restaurant staff very polite, helpful and efficient. Special thanks to Raul who served us for most of our stay. Drink prices were reasonable at approximately 10.50€ for a bottle of house red, 3.70€ for a pint and 2.20€ for a bottle of water. The only slight criticism was that we noticed a lot of the crockery was chipped. Ole Restaurant One visit to the A La Carte Ole Restaurant per week is included in your stay. This is very popular and we would recommend booking when you arrive as there are only about 10 tables. The food was ok and included buffet starters and waiter service for both mains and dessert. However there was very little atmosphere and the kitchen service door kept on slamming shut with a loud bang every time staff went back into the kitchen area which ruined the ambience and our dining experience. In our opinion this could be greatly improved with a little background music and a soft close hinge on the service door. Outside pool area and spa Lovely well kept gardens and great views. It Looked as though there were more than enough sunbeds but it was difficult to tell in January, however some idiots were still reserving them first thing in the morning! The outdoor pool looked very clean. The spa area had a small gym, sauna and a pool big enough to do lengths. Entertainment and bar area. With the exception of the Abba & Elvis tributes who were ok we thought that the entertainment was very poor and consisted of keyboard players, guitarists and singers all of which relied heavily on pre-recorded electronic backing tracks rather than raw talent (as did Abba & Elvis). The bar service was very good even when they were busy. The prices were also reasonable. Location This hotel is in an excellent location. Just steps from the beach and a few minutes walk to Benalmadena Marina and within a 45 minute walk to the main shopping area of Calle San Miguel in Torremolinos town centre. There are plenty of supermarkets, bars and restaurants close by including a Lidl that is a 5 minute walk away. The bus links to Benalmadena Pueblo, Mijhas Pueblo and Fuengirola are also excellent and cost just a few Euro's. To sum up. A lovely hotel, in a good location with fantastic staff. Comfortable and spotlessly clean. A decent sized well appointed and quiet room. Every member of staff was helpful and friendly. Plenty of seating areas. Although Covid-19 restrictions have eased it was good to see plenty of hand sanitizer stations were available and always topped up. We would not hesitate to return.…
We spent a week here, over the New Year period. The hotel is 3 minutes walk from Benalmadena Marina, which was beautiful. We walked into both Torremolinos and Benalmadena and much preferred the marina. Lovely sea front promenade outside the rear of the hotel leads to both towns, but 30 minutes walk into the main areas of both towns. The hotel itself was very nice. I cannot fault the service, from reception, to house cleaning to the restaurant and waiting staff. The NYE meal was exceptional. The meals provided in the restaurant were superb, in my opinion and the staff exceptional. The outdoor pool is very large, but obviously very cold this time of the year. Bravely a few people did swim, but very cold. The indoor pool was also very cold, but I used it daily for a swim. Nice steam room in the pool area. The gym was poorly equipped, with a multi gym that only had 3 of the 4 apparatus working. Two different cycles , a cross trainer and treadmill. Adequate but nothing special. The entertainment was OK, nothing special in my opinion. EL DIVO, I had seen before at Riu Monica in Nerja and are brilliant. In the marina there are some nicer bars, cafes and restaurants. Overall a very relaxing holiday and I would recommend. One negative, for those needing WIFI. WE both had a problem with wifi on our Iphones. The staff managed to sort my phone out, but couldn't sort my wife's, more modern Iphone out, so she had no Wifi all week. The staff tried hard, but say some Iphones and Ipads do not work with the hotel wifi!…
Poor poor service , poor rooms all is very average don’t waste your money better places for less in Torremolinos. Staying here just now sat for 20 minutes at bar and staff passed us by 23 times with us having empty glasses on table, complained and manager shrugged his shoulders. I have been a riu class member for 15 years and never have had such poor service in a riu hotel . Rooms dated and dark and dingy, only bright light is staff in restaurant they are very good, would like to single out Antonio he is excellent. Have 3 days left here and will not spend another euro in this crap hotel also will now rethink my riu membership, have been to Torremolinos every winter for the past 15 years(covid aside) and never had such a poor experience
Beware, this hotel has much more different room types than the ones you can book on their website. Rooms are different in size, views, location and sunny/not sunny at all side. When booking we could choose between standard room or room with lateral sea view...that's it ! You can't book frontal seaview, sunny side rooms, nor the (few) suites. We booked a lateral sea view room because that was the best we could choose from. We requested (by email) a sunny room on higher floor. We are RIU Class members and on arrival we were assigned a room with the most awful view on a dump side (container) of the hotel on the other side of the street. Sea view was negligible and no sunshine at all hence the tall hotel building on the opposite side of the street. According to reception the hotel was fully booked (the standard answer in such cases). The next day we were able to change room...a generous gesture according to the reception staff because no other hotel would change the room (What ???) This room was practically half the size of the previous room and came with a small "one at the time" bathroom. We think this was a single room that was transformed into a double room. Personally we think that this hotel has it's favorite guests, probably returning guests. We saw drinks returning to the bar to ad extra toppings, once a waiter reserved a table by telling other guest not to take place there... until the favorite guests arrived... Very high level of noise in the restaurant, one could barely speak to your partner, eat outside on the terrasse or in the Olé restaurant if possible. Thin walls resulting in lots of noise from neighbours...television, shuffling of chairs, walking with high heels, snoring guests, coughing guests, even using the toilet, you could hear everything The good things : Lovely staff in restaurant and cleaning, great location, food is good, Christmas and New Years diner was very good although the free drinks that came with those two diners were only moderately refilled ... (by our waither) and they also came in much smaller glasses than on the other (not included ays) days. Would we go back ? No …
This hotel is supposed to be 4 star, the rooms are very basic and are desperate for an update, food in the restaurant was always just warm, staff were told but we're not interested. Vomit was on the pathways around the hotel I told the staff but again not interested.
