Whilst the hotel is well appointed right on the beach it comes up on Booking.com as Calahonda Costa Del Sol we booked it under that misapprehention booked flights to Malaga arrived went to Fuengirola with the intention of getting a taxi to Calahonda 15 mins away. This was at 11pm the taxidriver was baffled and did not know where the hotel was neither did his controller it was only when he called the hotel on our behalf that he discovered it was the "other Calahonda" 250 kms away in Cost Tropical we had to fork out 50 euros for a room for the night then make our way accross spain starting out at 9am the next day finally arriving at 5pm at the hotel only to be told by the receptionist that this is a common occurence. As indicated the hotel is very nice located on the beach but that is all there is in this version of Calahonda, no shops, no bars, in fact not even a sunbed on the huge pebble beach. we managed to stick it another day then booked alternative accomodation in Torremolinos for the last couple of days of our holiday which cost a further 150 euros. but at least we were back nearer the airport and finally could relax. The moral of the story is be careful when using booking dot com and make sure you are in the correct Calahonda. We have complained to Booking. com who after a mealymouthed apology immedaitely blamed the Hotel for the misrepresentation on it's website and no offer of any recompense from them or the hotel for the additional expense

Modern hotel located on the sea front. Excellent restaurant. Comfortable rooms. Delightful friendly staff. Calahonda is small and I am not sure what there is to do there apart from spend time on the beach. Everything was quite shut up in April when we were there so I expect the focus in high season is on holiday lets. There are no other hotels and only a couple of other restaurants.

Poor customer service. It's a want and I can't. Because I asked to pass the meat, Maitre Jose, told me to the point of shoe sole. I find it rude when they're charging you 80 euros for the piece of meat. Note that I could not sit at the reserved table as they said it was for Manolo and accommodated me next to the services. I'd have more to tell, like an Eli and Almodovar's, I'd be short.

We went to eat today, at noon, without a reservation, the waitress gave us a table, to which another waiter, speaking in a bad way, told him to change tables. The place is spectacular, the service too, but a waiter, the same one who asked for the order on the terrace, served us quite poorly, very mocking, bad looks, in short, if it were my business it would be on the street. Lately we ordered another round of wines to leave, we were already served by another super friendly waiter. Bad luck not having the names to give this one a 0, and the others a 10, and for the business to take note.

Warning - This hotel is located on the Costa Tropical near Motril. Please make sure that you are booking the right hotel.
We didn't know there were TWO Calahondas in Spain and booked this hotel by mistake. I don't want anyone else to do the same. It caused us a lot of hassle!

We have just arrived back from Hotel Embercadero, Calahonda. This is the first comment we have ever left on Trip Advisor but we thought we just had to this time. The hotel was very secluded and quiet, right on the beach (shingle with crystal clear water). The room was large, clean and decorated to a very good standard. What made this hotel stand out though, was the excellent service from all the staff. Especially Maria, who served breakfast on the terrace overlooking the sea. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wanted a nice quiet break away from it all in beautiful surroundings and great accommodation.

We were landing at Almería Airport and making our way down to Estepona so thought we’d have an overnight stay somewhere between, booked the hotel Embaracedo de Calhonda.
The hotel was virtually on the beach with a lovely terrace that was used as the restaurant, the town was quiet but it was late May and the season hadn’t started so places were closed, all the Chiringitos were closed which was a shame as there were 6 down the full length of the beach. For menu del día €12 we chose Resturante El Conjuro, and for the evening dinner we went to the Restaurante El Ancla we didn’t order a starter but they insisted on bringing us a bowl of marisco and pescado (shell fish and fish) and with our main course dessert and drinks this only came to €27. The rooms were of a good standard Great hotel lovely staff and a wonderful severed breakfast, for an overnight or couple of nights stay well recommended.

The Embarcadero has got everything you need! Good sea view, good bar and amazing restaurant! I don't understand why it is classified as 2 star! I would give him a good 3.5 if I could. The only downside was the beach with peddles but this is my personal opinion and it does not have anything to do with the hotel. If you are looking for genuine relax far from the city this is what you need!

No tiene parking, pero por las calles de la zona se puede aparcar sin problema, aunque en agosto, como en todas las zonas de costa, resulta algo complicado.
There are more places to choose from in the Calahonda area.
