This hotel has a very long standing tradition in Jena as a hotel and restaurant. It is located opposite of the main historic University building, and at the corner of two busy streets, which is a bit of a drawback. My hotel room (No 1 :)) was nice and spacious and to the back of the room, so that noise... More

I stayed on the top floor under the roof. Room and bathroom were spacious. The windows were small but ok. This is part of the "being-under-the-roof feeling". The problem with one of the small windows was, however that it fell shut if it was opened wide all the time. And staying open would have been important because the floor was... More

I have known this hotel from previous events to which I was invited to. Returning to Jena, I wanted to try the hotel for an overnight stay. I really like this hotel because it's so authentical old-style and still has so many original elements inside. Room service however has to work on their performance! My room hadn't been cleaned with... More

I had a two-nights stay in this hotel. Besides the location - just in front of the main building of the university, and less than 5 min walk from the city center - and the breakfast - abundant and good quality - I didn't see the reason of 4 stars to this hotel. I arrived with a huge backpack and... More

What you think of this hotel will depend very much on what you are looking for. It is old fashioned: there is no tea or coffee available in the rooms, but there is a well-stocked and reasonably priced mini-bar; there is no air conditioning; the downstairs rooms are spacious and the shower efficient; it is not a "generic" hotel but... Hotel is in an easy to reach location, close to many local amenities. Rooms not overly large but totally adequate. Small ensuite bathroom but shower was brilliant. staff very friendly and helpful. Best thing especially if you are veggie or vegan was the food - outstanding! Only downside was lack of tea/coffee facilities in bedroom, but this is normal with German... More

Stayed here for 3 nights in a 'category III' room for a scientific meeting - got very little sleep for 2 of them as the room was right next to a tram line and they roll past at all hours, no effective sound insulation to speak of. Internet connection was weak and flaky, once the network disappeared entirely for over... More

The hotel is nicely located close to the train station and the town center. The hotel was kept immaculately clean and there was a nice varied buffet selection for breakfast. The rooms may seem a little old fashioned for some. There is no safe, but you do get a wardrobe that you can lock and take the key and a... More
