We stayed in the Hotel Schwann for three nights. We choose the hotel for its location, the Mainz Christmas market was in the square right outside the hotel. We were very happy with our stay. We had a room on the third floor facing the square, so we had a nice view. However the cobblestones on the square made the...

I stayed in Mainz for two nights as a nice mid point between Munich and Paris. Mainz is cheaper than Frankfurt and a more natural base for exploring the Rhineland. When I arrived a friend of the owners Klaus and Uschi checked me in and showed me to my room as they were returning from a vacation of their own....

Coming for many years to Mainz, I finally decided to NOT stay in one of the big chain hotels, but a smaller one in the old part of town. I had the best experience in the historic Hotel Schwan.I was able to occupy my room early, after arriving from an overnight flight. The room was spacious and comfortable, with view...

The hotel is tucked in a corner of the Dom Cathedral square, next to the Guttenberg Museum. The square is pedestrian only, but we did drive our rental car right up to the door to offload our bags, then had to park about 2 blocks away in a city garage (the hotel credits the cost back to you). Very quaint,...

With apologies for those of you reading this who come from outside the UK and who won't have a clue what I'm talking about, the Schwan is like Marmite in that you'll either love it or hate it. I don't think there's any middle ground. We first stayed there about twelve years or so ago and little has changed so...

We arrived at the hotel at about 14h00 and when we found no one we decided to do the Gutenberg Museum Tour. Afterwards we found Ushi who was very friendly and helpful. The Rooms are very big. The bathroom was nice and modern. Don't let the furniture put you off. The beds are comfortable and clean. Wifi worked well and...

I stayed at the Hotel Schwann for a conference in the Rheingoldhalle. It turned out to be a much better choice than the soulless Hilton with a nice 5 min walk in the morning to get to the conference. The hotel is small and family run, but was very friendly and pleasant and good value. It's next door to the...

I had been on a two week business trip where I was booked in large, efficient hotels with crowded dining rooms and high priced Internet access, so the Schwan was just what I wanted. Small, family run, and just off the main square, the Schwan is quaint and quiet (at least inside), and the proprietors were helpful and a pleasure...

I stayed in Mainz just for one night for a business trip. This hotel was clean, quiet and charming, and located in a nice area of Mainz. I would definitely stay here again. The price was also quite good.
