It was opened around 1967 and has never lost its charm. The entrance lobby alone is spectacular, large and airy, and tastefully decorated with items of the town’s history. Krefeld was famous the world over for silk and velvet manufacture and the display of ties, for instance, is just beautiful. The restaurant has an old fashioned, yet elegant, French, feel to it. The outdoor terrace overlooks some wonderful old trees. The food is excellent, often adapted to reflect the season, eg German asparagus around May, June and their famous goose dishes in November.
There are also beautiful, large celebration and conference rooms.
Breakfasts are sumptuous. There is a separate bar, again with an old fashioned vibe, yet perfectly modern at the same time, with a small garden area at the back.
The bedrooms are very comfortable and tastefully furnished.
Last but not least, the staff cannot do enough for you. It really feels like home away from home when I now stay there on my own.
Beautiful hotel inside with a rich history. Evening dinner (free) not recommended, but breakfast is great!
All employees are very hospitable and the voyer feels chic despite its dated appearance.
The hidden gem was the sauna where you could enjoy and relax undisturbed.
The building will soon be demolished and a new hotel will be built. It's a shame, because the interior can be called nostalgic.
Enjoyed it for now!
Unfortunately the frigo bar is empty, no water in and there is not the courtesy water. If the bar of hotel is closed and a client is thirsty during the night what can he drink?
The second day I bought a bottle of water in the bar of hotel, 1 liter for 7 euros from my point of view is a shame.
Furthermore at my arrival i'm been nformed at the desk that the price of parking was 6 euros per day, but when I paid they asked me 11 euros and they said that 6 euros is reserved just for certain companies.
The staff of the hotel is really polite.
Unfortunately the services of the hotel, considering that is a 4 star is not adequate.
Just walked to the center in 20-25 minutes and back by tram. Stops almost at the door.
Unfortunately due to staffing issues since Covid, bar not open in the evenings., otherwise an excellent stay.
