The hotel is very relaxing, the Lunarena and Luna rooms (on upper floors) with excellent views and beautiful terraces. The rooms and the entire hotel are very beautiful, natural materials, and elegant details. The guys at the reception, waiters and the manager were very friendly, always trying to solve issues and support us. The cuisine is rather normal, the menu is not very extensive but good for a few days without a problem. They also have vegetarian dishes, breakfast is nice. We want to highlight the chef of Dos Mares (sister hotel, a few steps from Lunarena) Marvin Iván Solis: apart from cooking very deliciously (being so young) with the ability to improvise delicious vegetarian dishes, he knows how to transfer all the wisdom of Yucatecan cuisine, It explains the recipes, traditions and the entire context of each dish. There is great potential and we hope, a very promising future. Congratulations! Three things made our impression not perfect: 1) the cleaning team is the only one that does not give a good vibe, it is seen that they work without pleasure, complaining (even when customers pass by) about their jobs and apart from very early (like 7:30 in the morning) they are shouting through the hotel hallways talking about their lives. Showing some technical details of the room, they took note and never solved it. However, when we complained about the noise to the manager, the next day everything changed, congratulations. If the same thing happens again, complain, this will help. 2) The beach, very beautiful and quiet, is about max. 5 minutes walking, no problem you arrive. However, the fact that they do not allow you to put more umbrellas does not help much to enjoy it for a long time and in addition, they lend you some comfortable beach chairs but you have to take them and return yourself. A little uncomfortable, it is not a hostel either and they would have to consider these services. 3) The worst came when we left the hotel, asking for the invoice (we have informed them about the invoice request since we actually booked). They promised to send it, we tried to communicate by WhatsApp, phone, booking, Facebook... No reaction. Only after more than a week wasting time with something that is obligatory for them and a right for the client, and after notifying them that if they do not send us the invoice, we will notify the SAT by means that we have, miraculously and thanks to a very Kind person who reacted on Facebook - everything was resolved in one day. Very bitter taste in the mouth at the end, unfortunately. If you need an invoice, don't go there.

Small hotel close to beach (not waterfront and no sea view) in El Cuyo. Furthest north from downtown, about 15 mn walk. The hotel is poorly staffed and doesn’t have a soul. We were there over the holiday period and there was nothing festive about the experience. We stayed for 3 nights, the bar was open only the first night (at dusk till about 8pm, not sure if the restaurant actually offers dinner , that was unclear), there was zero service the following two nights, including on New Year’s Eve. Management had a party going on at a sister property about 7 minutes walk away, but that should not have have implied no service staff whatsoever at Lunarena from 5pm! The rooms are nice and spacious but beds are small doubles. We chose the hotel because there is a kite school on site, but in reality the kite school is not staffed every day.

This hotel is not exactly on the beach but pretty close to it. The beach itself is amazing. The hotel not so much. But they have great customer service. The front desk clerk Laura speaks great English (rarely to be found around this place). She also helped to accommodate my disability, which was greatly appreciated by both me and my husband. Free breakfast included with the room was decent, although sometimes took a long wait to get. The hotel premises are beautiful but the rooms not so much. Some of them do not even have air conditioning. Overall, good experience but we expected more.

Trying to be honest here, the hotel had some positives. We noticed how the staff is warm and welcoming and our third floor room had a magnificent terrace looking over the wetlands. Because the hotel is at the extreme eastern edge of El Cuyo, we had the most wonderful view of the night sky with minimal light pollution. The room itself was very basic without closet or drawers to sufficiently unpack. What was advertised as a kitchen was in reality a refrigerator, sink and hot plate. Without knives or coffee maker, there wasn’t much we could prepare but the fridge was nice thing to have. Our biggest gripe was the lack of water that affected most of our two night stay. We couldn’t shower on our fist full day due to nothing coming from the shower head. We were told to try to shower again later in the day as the guests had already used up most of what was in their water tank. And on our last day, all the water was out throughout the hotel. I learned that when there’s a loss of power, the pump needs to be manually reset. Ok, this is Mexico, power outages are commonplace and there should be accommodations made for this type of event. However, they need to upgrade their water system if they’re going provide lodging up to their capacity. And referring to capacity, parking spaces were extremely limited. The restaurant had its up and downs, as well. On our first evening we split some guacamole and a fish entree. The guacamole seemed like some green fluff devoid of any natural flavors. It was just plain weird. The fish was tasty and nicely spiced. Breakfast was a mixed bag with lukewarm or flavorless coffee and the waitstaff had a tendency on both days to bring the food minus eating utensils. I know they’re trying but they need to do better for me to recommend this hotel which felt much more like a hostel.

This is a hostal wanting to be a hotel. Views are nice, staff very friendly and willing to help, do the best they can. Room did not look like the one in the picture. Staff told me it was the best view so I've dropped the argument and went on.
Views are indeed great, it is a ver calm place, ideal for couples or solo people looking to disconnect.
It would be better rated as 2 star hotel. They did never changed or renewed soap. When it rained water rinsed into the room and the kitchen was like a little lake.
Mosquito window worked poorly and dinner took 2 hours to be prepared since they ran out of gas to cook food.
When they succeeded it was delicious.
In resume, its a friendly place, in a super amazing place, one of the most beautiful and peaceful beaches in Mexico.
Price might be cheaper, staff super friendly doing the best they can, and millions of mosquitos. Mosquito repelent and afterbite is a MUST since they, of course, do not sell them there

We went for dinner and had a salad as a starter followed by fish with rice and vegetables. The place is nice and charming. While the salad was really good, the main course was really average. Since there is menu with prices, you get the expensive surprise at the end. Too bad - we will not go back.

Great location, friendly staff and incredible views but extremely overpriced for the quality it delivers. Value for money there are better accommodation options in El Cuyo. Basic standards for an hotel at this price such as: fresh water, well-trained staff, a comfortable place to sit, good wifi are non-existent.

The hotel is so cosy and the room so pretty ( love the bed) the balcony is magic at the nights and see the stars. All the personal are so gently and are very interesting in the guest. The breakfast is nice and peaceful. The beach is only 2min from the hotel and is totally virgin, you can walk and walk and see the sea and the jungle at the same time.
We will come back !
Thanks Lunarena
