Myself and two friends stated here recently while attending the ireland germany soccer international. Rooms where like something from the 1970s very very dated. Location was very very handy for the train station and there are ample amount of restaurants and take aways directly around the hotel.

I booked into this budget hotel for 3 nights as it was very conveniently located near the railways station of Essen and they offered free wifi, at a good price (I go to Essen often, but my preferred budget hotel was fully booked that week). However I checked out after the first night. It was totally not worth saving the...

Went to Essen for Techno Classica, classic car show. Hotel Kessing is convenient for the station (HBf), but that's about the best of it. Room was basic, clean, but rather tired. Smelt of smoke. Breakfast was basic but good, and the people friendly. Not particularly cheap Wouldn't recommend. And the road outside is a race track for ambulances, sirens all...

On arrival you will notice how the entrance door is in poor condition and it doesn't get any better. The reception area has loose laid mats everywhere that either trip you up or slide under foot. The hotel stairs and corridors look like they where last painted in the early seventies (that's a compliment) I was on the 4th floor...
