This is the second year we come here when we visit the Messe. It's about 10/15 minutes walking from the Messe. Nice and quietly located. Staff is very friendly and helpful The rooms are clean. Wifi is not too great, but free and working. The breakfast is delicious. All sorts of restaurants close by and a supermarket on the end...

We had a group, staying in three rooms. Out of those two had very nicely working internet, one didn't. Rooms are cozy, service is good and breakfast is essential for survival in Essen Spiel. Often it's the only real food until late dinner, hence we truly appreciate the variety offered.

A small, cosy hotel with easy walking distance from Essen fair center. Their breakfast buffet is really good and helps you through hard days at the fair center. However, place is not perfect. Some rooms are moist and have very little air circulation (like room 36) and their internet is a joke. For two separate occasions, two years apart, their...

This small, comfortable and friendly hotel is ideally situated for visiting the nicer parts of Essen. It's a short walk from the shops and restaurants in Ruttenscheider Str., and short tram rides from Villa Hugel, Museum Folkwang and the city centre. Our room was clean, the beds comfortable and the young ladies working there were charming and friendly. Breakfast choice...

Stayed here on a trip back from Poland and it was a lovely place to lay my head very clean room however on the small side. When we checked in there was only 2 single beds pushed together to make a double which is fine however there was only one single quilt and one towel on making the lady aware...

I visited Essen for a friend's wedding and stayed here. A lovely little hotel, very quiet location surrounded by woods. Clean, polite staff, ample free parking. Walking distance to some places to eat. Provided breakfast good. Free wifi, but would not work with iPhone/iPad for some reason, lost a star for that.

Close to tram service into centre, set in woods. An ideal quiet hotel. The rooms are very well furnished (but no fridge or coffee maker) and have Tempur type pressure-relieving foam matresses on the beds - which make them very comfortable. Small bar. One of the best breakfasts ever with an enormous choice of hot and cold dishes and a...

We just returned from a 10-day visit to Essen, Germany to visit friends and see the sites in Coln and Dusseldorf. The hotel was impeccably clean, the service outstanding and the German breakfasts every morning were world class. The Waldhaus is not close to the city center shopping malls or other touristy things in Essen but the secluded location with...

It's a nice hotel with spacious rooms, located on a peaceful tree lined street. The breakfast is served in a glasshouse overlooking a forest. It is very conveniently located for the Fair, about a 10 to 15 minute walk.
