I did not like this hotel, first the front desk was not very nice, as a business traveler I need to stay as flexible as possible since my travel circumstances change and often at the last minute, This hotel was not accomodating at all. My "deluxe" room was average at best and not a good value for the money spent, it was poorly laid out with alot of extra/unused space in the middle of the room and the furnishings appeared alittle dated, definately not worth the money spent and I don't think up to the quality usually found at a Grand Westin, The executive lounge was somewhat nice but they only had a couple beer/wine selections and the appetizer offerings were not the best. I will never consider this hotel in the future, EVER!

The Frankfurt Westin Grand Is located right in the heart of the inner city, the hotel is adjoining the Zeil shopping street with some great high end shops and stores just around the corner. MyZeil shopping mall is within 10minutes walking distance from the hotel, for general and grocery shopping. The room was spacious with a compact size washroom /toilet. Good as a business hotel. The food is very good. Recommended for a business stay.

The hotel is very centrally located. And if you are s shopping freak you will definitely vouch for this. The only hitch was the check in time which was 3 pm. We reached at around 12.30 and had to wait for 3 hours to get the rooms. The staff are quite courteous and helpful.

Searching the SPG list for Frankfurt and we thought the Westin looked like a quality, predictable choice. This is not a hotel that prides itself in design or service. It’s transactional. It’s functional. It’s a OK business hotel. It’s not bad. It’s just not a “Grand” hotel at all.

The lobby, bar and rooms are trapped in 2005 decor. The service staff almost the same. Some examples to illustrate our experience:

1. Check-in: We booked over 3 months in advance. We booked for access to the “Westin Club” with our room. We are SPG Gold Elite level. We asked for earlier access to room when we booked. We were told normal check-in was 15.00 and would we like to leave our luggage until then. The good news - they would call us when the room was ready. What’s the point of the “Preferred Guest” program. We were obviously not preferred.

We were lucky - another more experienced Reception staff member took over and ensured we were switched to an available room. The hotel was less than 20% booked. It was obvious the reception staff had no prioritising system and appear not to read customer feedback in advance.

2. The Westin Club. Very average. If you like white wine - STRONG advice - avoid the Club. Not worth paying extra for this place. The one saving grace - the breakfast in the Club was pretty good.

3. The Bar. Surreal. We asked what open white wines they had (we already knew the Club was a no-no) and the Waitress searched the Menu for us. She had no idea. We decided on a glass of dry Riesling. The wine was warm and awful. On paying we understood why. I was served a Grauburgunder costing 45% more. I only knew when paying. The response from the barman “I ran out of the Riesling”.

Just 3 examples. Hotel is absolutely OK. It’s just not “Grand” and 4 Star at best. Hence the one word summing up this hotel - mediocre.

As we were on a leisure trip for the weekend in Frankfurt, we arrived and had gone to the all day dining restaurant where we had an amazing restaurant manager who was spectacular. But as we started well we expected things to be good .
1) the room service menu says 24 hours on the beverage list but that was not the case we were told it is because the bar cabin is closed and they do not have the keys.
2)I ordered a minestrone soup and the portion served was very small not the standard which I have eaten in all the other hotels and when I asked the staff the response is that we do not have kitchen staff and the food are only reheated and not made.
3) The TV was outdated and when you paid for the movies they didn’t work.
4) their chinese restaurant San San we had ordered soups and dim sum but never showed up until we insisted twice. Our starters never arrived .
5) The house keeping came at 17.00 to clean our room but we needed the room To get ready for dinner.
6) No one asked for feedback or how our stay was ..

Truly disappointing as Westin worldwide has been one of my first choice of hotel in other parts of the world.

If I don’t remember wrongly the indoor heated pool should be opened all day except children can only be there from 10am -6pm

No the hotel does not have a shuttle. The hotel is a block from the train station. A taxi is around 50 euros depending on the amount of luggage and which way the driver goes.

Take a metro. Cheap, direct line, quick and stops right next to the hotel. Frankfurt (Main) Konstablerwache is the station where you have to get off.
