First it is a lovely old building and has been renovated very beautifully and artistically. Secondly, it is a wonderful location in Prenzlauer Berg - quiet and residential, and only two subway stops from Alexanderplatz or a nice 15- 20 minute walk to the centre. There are so many things we loved about this hotel - we loved going to...

This hotel is one of a kind. A real getaway in a big city. And so are the rooms. Each room has another theme. We stayed in the beach house, which actually gave us the feeling of spending time in a small cosy house instead of a hotel room. The garden and small terrace are also beautiful. We used the...

Ackselhaus was booked by our tour company. Room: We were pleasantly surprised the moment we stepped into our room - it was more of a mini apartment than a room! It was spacious and extremely comfortable. We felt very much at home. Staff were friendly and helpful. They speak English quite well too and we asked for help with directions...

The hotel is located near Alexanderplatz and 2 minutes from a tramway so easy to get around. The hotel is very special in that the rooms (in Ackselhaus) are tematic decorated and equipped. Check in was swift and efficient and we were given Das Strandhaus room. Decorated like a summerhouse at the beach. Nice big bedroom with a sitting area...

The Ackselhaus and Blue Home is a lovely, unique place to stay. Our two connecting rooms (503 & 504) were very large. Each room had a small sitting area which enabled us to spend time together as a family or have some space for quiet time. The staff are friendly, courteous, and respond very rapidly to questions and requests. The...

We stayed here for 2 nights in the New York room. It was spacious, funky and clean. I loved the coffee machine and the feeling of space. The bed was very comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We sat in the garden and enjoyed a beer from the honesty bar. It's a great location with gorgeous restaurants...

Ackselhouse is a lovely hotel in a charming neighborhood with easy access to fine restaurants, shopping, night life, and attractions. We enjoyed a wonderful 6 night stay in the Picasso room. The room was immaculate, spacious, beautifully decorated, had a super comfortable bed, and made for a perfect home base for exploring Berlin. The kitchen area had a small refrigerator,...

Berlin is a great city and the experience was enhanced by this fine accommodation. Their website is not misleading, it's as good as it looks. The staff are very relaxed, happy and helpful. There are multiple fine restaurants in close proximity

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
