Hotel Pension Funk welcomed me to Berlin for a brief business trip. HPF offered me a quiet, restful place in which to sleep, charming decor, reliable WIFI, convenient location for the purpose of my trip and a healthful breakfast. During the space between the end of my business meetings and the flight, the staff gave me a quiet place to...

I really enjoyed staying at the hotel Funk. The location is fantastic and easy to get to transportation, shopping and events. The room was comfortable, breakfast fantastic. I liked the friendliness of the staff and the home-like environment. If you want to return to simplicity and get away from the tv this is a great place to stay.

I traveled with Sue P and another friend and couldn't agree more with what Sue P has written. I would add that we each had our own bathrooms, too. There are rooms that share so you have choices. Free WiFi was present and that was a benefit. No TVs, no radio but that was fine for all of us. I...

I enjoyed my stay here. My room was spacious and comfortable, it felt more like staying in a stately home than a hotel. The staff were knowledgeable, helpful and accommodation. The quality of breakfast is equivalent to much more expensive places I have stayed in. The area is well serviced and interesting. All-in-all, excellent value.

This is a charming hotel in a location with many amenities within walking distance to lots of great shops and restaurants, and a block to the U-Bahn, a few blocks walk to the Banhof-Zoo station, and right on the route to the "hop on hop off" tour bus on Ku'damm. I was there with 2 friends and we each had...

In German, "funk" = radio, but the English connotation of funky sort of suits it, too. The Pension Funk is in a wonderful old residential building, off a quiet side street, just off the Kurfurstendamm. It once was the home of a Danish silent movie star (Asta Nielsen) and I wish the old walls could talk. Its charm can be...

We found Hotel Pension Funk via a Time Out guide book and definitely weren't disappointed. Located on a quiet street in a nice area, the staff were extremely helpful without being intrusive. We stayed in a double room, with a private shower but shared toilet, and I think the price was very reasonable. Although the shower and sink were plonked...

This is not a place for those who set comfort high. There are no TVs in the rooms and the hotel being in an old building, most of the ensuite bathrooms have a DIY feel. This is a place if you set personal and friendly service, flair, ambiente and charm above all and don't mind quirky. The breakfast buffet is...

Just wanted to add my voice. We loved this hotel, the quaintness and remaining true to the period. Room overlooking courtyard was good, bed very comfortable, breakfast fine. After being robbed in Paris immediately we arrived, this was an oasis. Unfortunately we lost a day with reporting loss etc and I have always regretted we only had one night in...

Beautiful, charming, original, non-fussy, great value. These characteristics outweigh the occasional inconvenience of the Pension access/ communication issues.

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
