This is a terrific place with heaps of character and set in a very well heeled part of Berlin. Management was really helpful, breakfast was terrific and the room was spacious. Location is not so great if you are after cool bars and restaurants, but nothing that short ride on the metro can't resolve

If you like antiques and the feeling of the past, combined with modern features like wifi, than Hotel/Pension Funk is certainly the right address for you! I had a pleasant stay, the staff is very nice and breakfast was excellent!

This is a lovely place to stay. On a pretty street that's really quiet and only a minutes walk from the underground.station-Uhlandstr. Original features, high ceilings, antique furniture makes it feel like you've gone back in time. It feels like Asta Nielsen could still live there! Fresh lilies and tulips in the lobby and breakfast room were a nice touch....

* Great location about 3-4 mins walk from main shopping street, and 15 mins walk from Savignyplatz (cool/nice bars + restaurants) * Friendly + efficient booking (via emailing the manager/owner) * Well priced, given excellent location (+breakfast included) BUT * We were welcomed by a mid-teen (?), who seemed the only person there and didn't seem completely confident in what...

This is a very charming establishment close to Ku'dam. Once upon a time it was the home of the Danish expressive silent movie star Asta Nielsen (she left Germany in 1937). I'm sure she launched exiting parties in the former reception area with beautiful windows overlooking the peaceful Fasanenstraße. Now it is transformed to breakfast room and spacious guest rooms...

What a find. Booked this because of attractive central location at Ku'dam (easy to reach by bus 109 or X9 from TXL). Turns out to be a time capsule that takes you straight to early 20th c Berlin. Good beds, high ceilings, amazing woodwork and wallpapers, actual art. If you can tolerate quirks like shared bathrooms (some rooms do have...

I rented one of the cheapest rooms in the pension for one night before going on to Dresden. As such the room was very small, but the bed was comfortable and other rooms were much larger. I was impressed by the breakfast, which extended to smoked salmon. The wi-fi was reliable. The pension is right in the centre of the...

A friend and I have recently stayed three nights there and I can't recommend it highly enough. It's such an interesting building, in a quiet, gentile area and the staff at the hotel are great. In fact we arrived really late at night 11pm and one of the staff, Michael had come back to the hotel after his shift to...

Very elegant hotel - high ceilings, lovely beds, delicious breakfast - great coffee, smoked salmon/ meats/ cheeses; lovely bircher muesli and a selection of breads... a real find and a bargain. Great place to stay in Berlin if you enjoy something other than the sterile décor of most chains. We had a spacious room facing the courtyard. It was very quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was wonderful and had lots of variety, even for vegetarians. We wish we had booked earlier so we could have stayed longer.

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
