This hotel is one of its kind and this must have been the first time I stayed at such a "funky" hotel! You realize you have come to an interesting place as soon as you enter the lobby. My room was very small but the wall colors and the weird art (the room had the front of a red horse...

If you want to have an experience staying in a hotel this is a great place to be. The art exposed in the rooms is funny and serious; it's more than decoration; it give's the rooms their own character. The location is very good; central and right on the former division (wall) between east and west Berlin. We traveled with...

The hotel was in a great spot with a 5 minute walk to Reichstag etc and yet opposite a quiet, attractive neo classical road with lovely cafes. The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel was interesting. We had room 210- the beat goes on. The only down side is the noise. It was so hot we had to...

This great, centrally located hotel is a Berlin bargain! Every room is different, each designed by a different artist so you don't know what you'll get until you open the door. We had the Heiner Meyer room which has a glamorous Audrey Hepburn theme. The room was large and spotlessly clean with comfortable beds. The public areas are beautifully designed...

The hotel is centrally located, literally 5 mins away from the Brandenburg Gate. The room was clean and interesting. Furthermore, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Overall I would definitely recommend Arte Luise it is fantastic value for money especially given the fact it is fantastically located.

we went to this hotel on September 2011, we found it on the last minute over the internet. It is a concept hotel, around 30 rooms each one has a theme and concept, it is really cool we felt it is a different new experience from the "standard" hotel concept. the hotel is next to Alexanderplatz (a very active place...

IMO, hotels should be 1) clean 2)centric 3)affordable: most tourists SHOULD only use hotels to sleep & shower! Arte Luise fills all & more: rooms were very clean, as were the Shared restrooms and bathrooms (not the same thing). Best part, even Better than the woks of art, was the location: we walked all over the city, at all hours...

Recently, I stayed in the Arte Luise Kunsthotel for the second time and again it was a very nice experience. All rooms have been decorated by a renowned artist and as a result each room is a unique work of art (and - no to forget - very comfortable). So, it is really wortwhile to have a quick look in...

I think the hotel, based on appearance and cleanliness, is quite adequate and the rooms are furnished in a bright and fun way (judging based on pictures primarily as my room was bright but nothing special). The location is very convenient, within easy walking distance of the Bundestag and Brandenburger Tor and within an 8 minute walk of the cafes...

Very hip, efficient hotel. Location great...can walk to all the sites, great neighborhood cafes, pubs; quiet neighborhood, no train noise even though close to tracks. It was a find! Prices reasonable, free wifi, bottled water in the room. They even comped us a bottle of wine for a small problem we had with our TV.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
