i stayed for one night. the hotel rooms are without aircondition - weird for anything what has four stars in its logo, but i was said by a german friend this is a habit in german capital because "it is cold here." well, it was not in second week of july 2011... other than this, everything was fine: friendly and...

Cant speak highly enough of this hotel. Excellent location, friendly & helpful staff, clean & large room facing into the rear courtyard of the hotel. Hotel is right around the corner from checkpoint charlie, berlin wall memorial and a straight walk down the street from Potsdammer Platz. There is an S bahn stop at the end of the street however...

This hotel is well located close to Anhalter Bahnhof S-Bahn and not far from the Kochstrasse U-Bahn (Checkpoint Charlie). It's a business hotel apparently geared towards conferences and functions, but it's suitable for leisure travelers as well. We were in a superior room (upgrade due to booking 3 nights), which was spacious and comfortable, although it looked like it had...

Well located hotel (close to transport and therefore close to everything in Berlin) that was very clean, spacious and very comfortable. Great buffet breakfast. A very nice place to stay in Berlin. After seven days, it was difficult to leave.... An easy walk to Potsdamer Platz, the old wall and Checkpoint Charlie etc.

Excellent staff, excellent breakfast. We stayed there 4 nights around the New year celebration. Really nothing to complain about. English newspaper available and for smokers a smoking corner (no need to go outside). Well located. Walking distance from all major intereting spots.

Spent a week here with few complaints. Friendly, effective staff, and, like most Berliners, fluent in English. Breakfast buffet was big with lots of choices. It has the feel of a hotel for business travelers, by which I mean clean, well appointed, but also lacking in character, more of a chain hotel feel. That also means that some service prices...

In Berlin for a recent conference, we were put up at the Relexa. We found it clean and comfortable. The front desk staff were (mostly) impressively multilingual (unlike us) and the room well-organized if not luxurious. There was a small balcony overlooking the (vaguely overgrown) park that fronts the Relexa's street. The bathroom was plenty large and the shower -...

We stayed one week at this hotel in late September. As others have mentioned it is on a street with numerous other hotels. We had no issues with street noise, as we asked for a quiet, non-smoking room. The hotel provided us with a room that overlooked a park shared by a number of apartment buildings. The room was quiet,...

Have just returned from a 5 night stay at this lovely hotel. The room was bright and airy, with a comfortable bed and spotless bathroom - in fact this was one of the cleanest hotels I've ever stayed in. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful, catering for all tastes. The location is perfect; a pleasant stroll to all main sights...

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
