A small traditional hotel in an excellent location for sight seeing. Tram stops outside the hotel and the Ubahn is a 10 min walk. Our room was a good size and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice and a good selection of fresh fruit. The staff were friendly and helpful and although there were no drink making...

We asked if we could be moved to a room with street view windows as there were only velux windows in the room and they did without any hesitation. The new room (27) was spacious and clean with 2 large windows that could be opened if required (not advisable if you have a young family). It wasn't too noisy with...

Really enjoyed our stay here for 3 nights. Very convenient base for exploring this fantastic city with excellent transport links. Room was spotless as was all other areas of the hotel, and the staff were very pleasant and very helpful. The mini bar in the room was extremely well priced, possibly the cheapest mini bar I've ever seen. We would...

It was perfect for what I needed: a reasonably priced hotel that is clean and comfortable, while being centrally located. They have a nice breakfast buffet. Overall the staff were great and they were very accommodating, even not charging me the first night I reserved due to my flight being delayed for one day (well, turned around mid-flight) and were...

Dear guest, thank you for the good evaluation that you gave to our hotel. We are pleased to know that you have been satisfied with the room and also enjoyed the bar. It's only a pity that our breakfast could not please you. Actually we are serving a typical German breakfast with a wide range of different breads, spreads, fruits...

Very reasonably priced hotel close to centre and we walked in quite a few times. Triple room was spacious and continental breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. Staff were helpful and friendly. Lovely bar downstairs which sadly on more than one night of our stay was closed or not available to residents. However would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Dear guests, We thank you very much for your good feedback. We regret that you found our cosy bar closed on some nights . It keeps its doors open till around 11 pm daily and of course longer if desired. So we hope we will be able to host you here at another time in future. Looking forward to that...

We enjoyed our stay at the Kastanienhof and would certainly stay again. The room had all we needed and was clean and warm. We paid 10 euros a night more for a room facing the courtyard. We stayed in the run up to Christmas and the hotel was tastefully decorated as you would expect in Germany. We found the breakfast...

Hotel is centrally located and close to trains/trams. We walked to the Berlin Wall Memorial. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Outlets to charge our electronics. The free wifi worked fine in our room. There are plenty of good reasons to recommend the Hotel Pension Kastanienhof. Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
