old facotry that was turned into hotel. atracts youngsters. cool atmosphere but noisy. 4th floor means lots of climbing or slow ans sometimes very busy elevator. I'd give it a 3.5 . seems 4 is too much but 3 too little.

We visited Berlin for Christmass this year and we stayed in Transit Hotel, which was a very good value for money choice. The bus and U-bahn stations where very close and the neighborhood was nice and safe (we were traveling with children). The hotel was clean and the room was very warm. I think I would prefer it again...

Clean place with fair breakfast. The noise of the floors can be heard clearly in the room, however only limited number of rooms per floor. Heating system did not work for one night in the winter. No voluntary discount, seems to be nothing to special...

Staff is friendly, the breakfast buffet is very good with lots of different things to choose from. Also the hostel is close to a metro station so it's easy to go to other places in town. The beds could be a bit more comfortable; the mattresses were a bit thin in our room. The name is a bit misleading: don't...

Very cheap and very friendly in a cool environment. Good, safe part of Kreutzberg. I left my purse in my room at check out. Panic! But the kind cleaner had returned it to the reception. Staff had a laid back friendly and helpful attitude. Some matresses need replacement. But all in all - great place for a great price.

Close to the underground station and close to many restaurants and bars. it is a busy hostel with a great buffet breakfast included.Breakfast wasbusy but food was replenished frequently. We booked a triple room and got 5 beds! The hostel bar was cheap and busy but easy to get served. The hostel is a converted factory of some sort with...

Although this hotel doesn't look really nice at first sight (an entrance you almost miss, worn out stairs, slow elevator), I liked it more than other places I stayed at in Berlin recently. It's situated in a "Hof" away from the street, making it quieter than other places I stayed at. Clean rooms (maybe a bit on the small side,...

Stayed here for 4 days, simple no frills hotel, clean, decent size rooms, food is ok, parking on street, easy to commute across Berlin either by public transport or taxi. Lots of restaurants in the area if you like to dine out, bars are close to this hotel too.

Picked this hotel based on its competitive price and the fact that it had rooms with four single beds. Was not disappointed by any aspect of the stay - good location minutes away from U-Bhan, plenty of options in terms of restaurants near by and a good selection for breakfast. If you're making the most of your visit to Berlin,...

I loved the Berlin loft atmosphere. Obtained from a former factory, access from a courtyard - building shared by other apartments - provided with a lift but the wrought-iron banister of the staircase was worth a notice! Clean and spacious room (with balcony!!!), although the bed could be more comfortable, overlooking a garden, great breakfast and a hip lobby space....

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.

“The rooms are hot during the summer. Bring a small portable fan and you will be happy that you read this tip! There is an amazing ice-cream parlor "vanilla & marille" across the street (near the fruit shop) TRY IT!! they make heavenly ice-cream - one scoop for 1€ (you can also taste before buying - so you know what you are ordering)”
