7 of us spent three nights in the ludwig van beethoven hotel. The breakfast was great, the rooms were spacious, and it was very straightforward to travel into the city via the u-bahn. The u-bahn was a two minute walk from the hotel and it took less than. 10 minutes to reach alexanderplatz. The small bar was very welcoming at...

This place is clean, a good value and in an interesting neighborhood. It's quiet, clean and you have a nice breakfast. There's nothing else you really need, right? There's some good place to eat nearby, the metro is really close and you have everything you need for your trip within a few minutes walk: groceries, accommodation, all sort of stores....

Good value 3* Hotel. Decent sized rooms with breakfast and Wi-Fi included. Although not in 'tourist' Berlin, there are plenty of shops and restaurants around. We travelled from Alexanderplatz to Hotel in just 17 mins on U Bahn so don't be put off by location. Breakfast had a decent variety - only a couple of hot items but lots of...

The area is nice for stray around. Our family enjoyed the nearest park and Tempelhof Park as well. Best is an important for us was room with separated small room for a child. Also free parking for our car. Near the Hotel on the street are many opportunities to find great food. Best was Vietnamese restaurant for us. The restaurant...

Found this gem of a hotel via Tripadvisor and the reviews were not wrong. It is a lovely hotel. Check in was very smooth and efficient despite the fact it was nearly midnight. We were also able to have a drink in the bar upon arrival. Our rooms were spacious, comfortable and very clean. Breakfast was lovely. A good selection...

Good quality for a low price. Before setting off to Berlin we have compared several different options and this hotel was by far the cheapest, offering good quality at the same time. We were attending a private viewing in a local arts centre, so the location was perfect. Otherwise we would have chosen a different area of the city. Breakfast...

Friendly, helpful and knowledgable staff. We stayed a week in room 609 at the back of the hotel so very quiet. Clean, comfortable bedroom. Good self-service breakfasts (including delicious home-made bread) on the roof-top terrace. Car park at no extra cost. Dog welcomed - big park across the road for exercise. Hotel in good situation near restaurants, subway station and...

Because of the nearby subway station it is almost like staying in the heart of Berlin. Firstly the parking area is huge and tucked behind an archway entrance from the street. The receptionists are very friendly and helpful with local advice, eg the closest self service laundromat. The breakfast is excellent, lots of choice and good quality breads, juices etc....

We stayed here four nights. Room 411. We had a warm welcome at Reception and during our stay, nothing was too much trouble. The room was very clean and very comfortable. It has been a long time since I had such a comfortable first night's sleep in a strange bed! There was an excellent breakfast choice. I did try to...

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
