The whole building is a bit dated but not in a disturbing way. The rooms are quite large and well maintained despite feeling a bit old. The only thing I would improve in my room was the shower. The bathroom was huge, but the shower was put in a corner and a bit small for my taste. The hotel has...

The hotel is a 5 minutes walk of Alexanderplatz and the central, part of Berlin. The hotel, was clean, well maintained and staffed by welcoming friendly staff. The room was good and the bathroom did the job. Would suggest asking for a room away from the road if possible

Travelled as a couple to Berlin for sight seeing and to see Christmas markets. Ideal location as its only a ten min walk from Alexanderplatz S+U Bahn station. Building next door is deserted which makes the area feel and look run down. However we felt safe. The hotel is located on the main road and right at a cross road....

Plus points for location, accessibility to public transports, clean rooms, large balcony Down points: we stayed at the 3rd floor and the noise from the street was too much; wifi does not work in androids, works poorly on iPhone, staff was not helpful; the room does not feel cosy. I wouldn't stay here again, does not compare to other hotel...

This hotel is in a renovated Soviet era East German apartment building. It is surrounded by other similar looking drab blocks. However it is a couple of blocks away from Alexanderplatz where there is plenty of action as well as train, tram and subway. The fact that it has balconies is a plus for night time viewing. While, I wasn't...

24 hour English-speaking very helpful staff, tiny but efficient bar/lounge, enormous breakfast buffet but also a bit pricey for breakfast (18E), corridors on room floors are dark, and in the european tradition of saving electricity hall lights are motion-sensitive. Tiny elevator but then again the hotel isnt that big. Rooms and bathrooms are enormous (larger than mine at the Hilton...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.

“Mine had a balcony maybe 3-4 feet wide x 12 feet (or more--the width of the room). Empty window boxes (would have been nice to have them planted with fall-blooming flowers) and no patio furniture. This would be a near-luxe room were the balcony suitable to sitting with a glass of wine or cuppa joe. Bedding is very comfortable large duvets, huge euro-style square pillows, large 6-foot desk with lamp, plug-ins, phone, coffee pot, etc., Many floor and table lamps make it easy to keep the ambience without having ceiling lights on all the time.Huge "turn of the century Alexanderplatz" wall mural. Leatherette-covered loveseat opens to a 3rd bed. Lots of open space in the room--not at all crowded with furniture. But it could use one comfortable armchair with an ottoman and I would have been in heaven. All this for under 80E.”
