6th time in Berlin around Christmas. Derag Henriette a splendid hotel in the middle of the City. Former East a new and well equipped hotel just across U2. Everything works perfect and the service is good. Business center across the street - could be easier but worked well. Breakfast very good but also expensive. Small kitchen at the room where...

Nice and clean. Good location close to Alexanderplatz and Berlinerdom. Breakfast not included and very expensive. 16 € a person/day. Much cheaper in nearby cafés. But overall absolutely recommendable.

My second visit in two years and I won't hesitate to stay here again on my next trip to Berlin - very clean hotel, ideally situated with friendly and helpful staff. Enjoyed our meal at the Indian restaurant attached, plus there's a very nice café along the road called Milly's if you get up too late for hotel breakfast (or...

Good location across from the Ubahn entrance (the entrance at the other end to the elevator. The U2 line is also good for access. Lots of good 'German' restaurants near St Nicholai church (eg AltBerliner). Transport tickets available from the front desk and the staff were always helpful. The rooms are a good size, nice furniture, with Tea & coffee...

Good price, excellent location, close to Alexander Platz, close to the subway and close to some of the beautiful things to see in Berlin, nice people at the reception and a nice room. To be recommended to everyone for a citytrip to Berlin.

I booked quite late, so was happy to get a good price for a 4* hotel. Not in the heart of the city, but located a few minutes´ walk from Alexanderplatz, just south of the "Fischerinsel" it really is well located and offers high quality rooms and services. Breakfast wasn't included in the price so I can't comment on that,...

This hotel is conveniently located across the street from a U-Bahn station - which is great if you are taking it from the airport. The front desk staff were extremely helpful (providing maps, stamps, etc) and always very polite. You will have to keep a card with you that identifies you as a guest in order to receive your key...

I recently spent 3 nights at the Derag Livinghotel in Berlin and I must say that I was quite happy with it, given the price I paid. We paid AUD$219.54 (AUD$73.18 a night) for 3 nights stay which I think is fairly decent for a reasonably nice hotel which is quite close to the city and very handy to the...

Being my first time in Berlin, accommodation was going to play a big part of my stay. So thankfully, I chose a really good hotel which was situated right near the train station, cafes and restaurants and a few supermarkets around it. Not to mention how quiet the surroundings were. The helpful staff were friendly, and their breakfast buffet was...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
