We were thinking of camping in Western Australia and ended up camping in Berlin instead. This city is anti gentrification and we really felt that we did our bit fitting in. A great team they really looked after our family and our kids got right into it. Was nice to meet other people but generally we had the space to...

We booked Huttenpalast as a group of 20 for a celebration, Hans and the other staff were fantastic, helping us with restaurants, bike hire, locating lost phones, hosting a big dinner for us all with impromptu buskers arriving to serenade us with Prince and Tina Turner hits... Really they made our stay in Berlin very special. The huts and caravans...

My stay at Huettenpalast was an experience of its own. I made reservations via email and the staff was quick about responding and answering questions. We got there early before check in time but it was Winter and the staff was nice enough to let us check in early. The staff is super friendly and they speak English. Winter time...

This is truly an amazing and unique place! I arrived quite late, after normal check in time, which during day is through the small cafe at the front of the building but Matthias was on site for my arrival just before 10pm which I was grateful for. As it was late I decided to get a taxi from Schonefield airport...

We stayed here as a couple in Jan, we thought it might be a bit cold but turned out it was the opposite, lovely and cosy. Our other concern was possibly the showers / bathrooms but yet again they were probably one of the best showers I've ever used in absolutely pristine condition. If you are a bit of a...

This place would not suit everyone so if you're not interested in staying somewhere extremely quirky and eccentric near cool small bars with live music and artwork, you will absolutely hate this place. However if you are, you will find that as well as the atmosphere it is also clean and very well organised with friendly reception staff. Matthias checked...

Loved this place. You wouldn't normally pay as much for such a small accommodation space (not that it was over-priced at all), but it is not any ordinary hotel. The indoor camping feel is much more sociable and you get a completely different experience to staying in a hotel. The accommodation space, with all the different vintage vans, bits of...

Spent three nights in "Kleine Schwester" and it was just excellent. Really cozy, clean, unique and lots of fun details. Close enough to the U-bahn and a couple of really good restaurants (Myxa, Papilles). For those who are looking for something different, something where the owners have really put their heart into and something classy, this is it.

This hotel is funny for one night but no more: -The rooms which contain caravans are small which means that it is really noisy and you have absolutly no intimity. The price we paid (172 euros for 2 nights) is clearly overpriced: -The location of the hotel is not really good as quite it's far from the highlights of Kreuzberg....

Me and my friends stayed at the hotel last June and enjoyed every minute there. The staff was wonderful and helpful. I did not have the breakfast, but my friends complimented it. The caravans were all a bit different and cute. The bathrooms and toilets were neat and clean. I especially liked the garden, where you could sit and have...

Staying in Neukolln

Neighbourhood Profile
No Berlin neighbourhood is more popular with the young and jet-set crowd than the old worker's district of Neukölln. With so many Turkish settled here, the area became known as “Little Istanbul“. Today the percentage of foreigners is still high and visitors still frequent the Turkish shisha bars. In the daytime, they also visit the designer shops and sit by the canal in one of the street cafés up and down Westerstrasse or at Maybachufer, having a beer and waving to the sightseeing boats as they float by. But at night, Neukölln is dominated by increasingly young, alternative, and international crowds. This is particularly evident in the northern section of the district where there are many bars, funky clubs, galleries and restaurants. There, the night never seems to end.
