I guess staying at a boutique hotel the first time I visited Berlin jaded me because I found the Radisson Blu big and busy. Yes, it had all the amenities, but the minute you step outside, it is chaotic, making me feel like I was right back in NYC. This year my visit was with my 82 year old Dad...

We spent three nights there this week. We opted to upgrade to a corner room and had a great view of the Dom and balconies on two sides. The bathtub and shower were very good and we had plenty of room for two in the bathroom. The bed was especially comfortable and the sitting area in the suite also comfortable....

Breakfast and cuisine are perfect and service on top level. The hotel is in the heart of Berlin and the river and very nice park just close by. The bar works long...

The hotel is close to many attractions, and an easy subway or tram ride from everything else. The beautiful six-story aquarium in the lobby is stunning. The staff is very friendly and helpful, particularly the concierge and the front desk staff. They put out a very nice and varied breakfast buffet every morning and offer your choice of newspaper delivered...

We had a great Berlin holiday, because we stayed at Radisson Blu Hotel Berlin. From here, it is easy to go anywhere in Berlin by subway, tram, or bus, and, if you don’t want to take anything, just walk. Berliner Dom and Museumsinsel are around the corner, and Brandenburger Tor is just 2 km away. The room we got was...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
