excellent locations, really friendly staff and well appointed rooms but two big issues: 7.50 euro for one hour of wifi is outrageous! and my other issue: 6 euro for a cup of coffee - maybe I am being mean in my old age but they are two things I benchmark all hotels against and the Westin Berlin comes out wanting...

I stayed here on vacation recently. The accommodations were excellent. The room was clean and large; the mini bar well stocked. I loved the location as I could walk to all the the important museums and sights I wanted to see. The staff was helpful; spoke English well, and were willing to answer any of my questions. I enjoyed sitting...

Been a Starwoods preferred guest I have stayed at many Westin properties throughout the world. Some have been great, others not so. From the moment we walked into the Berlin property we were pleased with the service. The front desk was prompt in check in and very courteous. The rooms were ready and when I asked about their location I...

We stayed in this hotel for two nights using points. The hotel is very attractive, and the service is fantastic. We had a new clerk at check-in, and he must have apologized 20 times for his delay, which really wasn’t a big deal at all. We were in a courtyard facing room, which was smallish, but every square inch was...

Spent 2 nights at the Westin on a recent business trip to Berlin. Arriving mid-morning having flown in from the US, I was happy that I was able to check into my room early. Room was nice, clean, although a little small, and I was only slightly disappointed to be on the 2nd floor facing the inner courtyard. That said,...

The Westin is in a great, convenient location in Berlin. The first room we were given was a very, very long walk from the elevator and right next to the subway construction. Although it was a large newly-renovated room, we thought it felt so cold and sterile, like it had been decorated by a minimalist Communist. There was no way...

Excellent location for many Berlin attractions, and rather quiet even when massive underground construction goes on around the corner on the unter den linden. Nice interior. Friendly front office and concierge staff, less efficient room service staff. Wifi service is not complimentary, is labor intensive (requires frequent log on ) and somewhat slow. No decent complimentary English morning paper. Breakfast...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
