The combination of design (cool, modern & luxurious), location (less than 5mins in each direction from Gendarmenmarkt & Museum Island, with several metro stops), and the price, make this hotel an excellent choice for a weekend in Berlin. All rooms are spacious with comfy beds, great showers, and feel very new/fresh, with the superior ones having gorgeous views of Schinkel's...

We stayed at this hotel as part of a 4 country tour and it was the start point. When you book a hotel online there is always that concern that it may not be what you hoped for even though you have done all the resaearch. fear not if this is going to be your choice. The hotel is outstanding....

My mum and I stayed at the hotel for a long weekend In early may. This was our first visit to Berlin and we both felt the hotel was very well located and provided everything your need for a lovely weekend break. The hotel staff were very helpful with tips on what to visit and assistance booking restaurants. The Breakfast...

I like Arcotel in Berlin. I stayed there for a couple of nights in early October, 2011. It`s one of the few hotels I stayed at in Germany that provided free internet in the lobby. Staff were helpful and prompt in responding to requests. The hotel is within walking distance to a lot of attractions, including the main museums, the...

The Arcotel John F was our home base for 3 nights in Berlin. I was very pleased & surprised by the standard room. It had 2 plush rocking chairs which made for an excellent spot to relax after a busy day sightseeing in Berlin. The matching bed was supremely comfortable as well. We had breakfast at the hotel, its traditional...

Very nice location, close to Gendarmenmarkt. I arrived early and the room was not ready, but when I came back in the evening I got an upgrade. Nice room with a huge shower. Sleeping quality good, but the bathroom could be cleaner. Breakfast good, service nice and perfect. Check out took a little long, because not enough staff. I did not...

My coworker checked into this hotel after several hours of business meetings, very late in the evening, only to go into a room without a bed. He went back to the front desk and they offered him a free cab ride to another hotel. That was it. We booked this well in advance and it was left to him to...

We chose the hotel based on it's prior reviews and location. The reviews were correct, this is a good hotel and it is in a quiet location! only (about) 200m from Under den Linden (near berliner dom) and it is close to many otehr sites. We almost didnt use transport, and if you need one you have a subway not...

Nothing special about the interior except that it is remarkably clean. We had a double room for $100/night. Quiet area, but close to many of Berlin's sights. Walking distance to the old quarter with German restaurants that will stuff you with typical German dishes. The reception was helpful and personable with any request. Of note, the young woman who worked...

Arcotel JohnF is surely a good solution if you are planning to have a holiday in Berlin. It's very close to Museuminsel and at about five minutes' walk from underground station of Französische Strasse in Friedrich Strasse. The hotel has very clean, quiet and nice rooms, with bathrooms where you can find anything you need, although they aren't very large....

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
