I stayed there for three days and the good thing i can say is that it is clean and you sleep good. But the room is old missing a lot of standards like a fridge or mini bar and you can hear what they do in the next room or in the room above ! also there is no 24h...

This is the hotel my German friend booked for us for our two night stay in the capital , and it did not disappoint, our room faced the main road but you are not affected by any noise from the cars or trams.. the train station is a 7 minute walk away and from here you can reach any point...

I got this hotel by chance on the booking website, and found myself lucky being 5 minutes train from the famous Alexander Platz and its beautiful christmas market, of course the tower and all the shops and malls. The inside is nice, relaxed, the Feng Shui philosophy is explained and quite well applied there. The breakfast is very good, specially...

A bit small, but a nice comfortable room. Rooms on the tram side are a little noisy, but not bad. Free internet. Breakfast is offered but at 8 euro. Located in a lovely neighborhood - Prenzlauer Berg. A nice leafy mostly quiet residential area (a bit like Soho in NYC); really nice to stroll around with coffee in hand. A...

I do wish I had checked on Trip advisor as I would not have stayed at this hotel had I read the earlier reviews. I am still furious about the way I was treated by this hotel and I have all the same complaints as others including the following: 1. My room was very small and cramped (more like staying...

I have been to Berlin many times and this has to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. On first impressions the hotel looks good but actually inside there are many flaws. Firstly the service was despicable, I have never experienced such rude hotel staff who were unable to help all the time. This is not a family...

We stayed here for an extended weekend. It was all in all an ok stay. The room was clean. The room could have been a bit larger, but it wasn't a problem. I could estimate about 10 square meters not counting the bathroom. There was some street noise. There is a somewhat busy road with a tram line just outside....

Stayed in this hotel with my girlfriend for 4 nights in October 2010 for my birthday and 1st visit to Berlin. After a lot of time spent on the internet, we chose the Melarose as we felt it offered the best value for money in terms of mid-range hotels (based upon the hotel website, services, room photos etc.). It could...

Rooms are very small, but clean and comfortable. The breakfast is ample and the staff are helpful. We enjoyed the location - it's easily reached by tram from Alexanderplatz and the neighborhood is pretty with many dining options. Only drawback to the hotel is that there is no one at the front desk from 11pm until the morning - not...

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
