My boyfriend and I booked this place last minute for 2 nights of our 8 day holiday in Berlin. The hostel is very easy to find and it in a quiet part of East Berlin. The hostel staff are really friendly, and since they are real Berliners they are really helpful especially when it comes to going to the right...

With a group consist of 8 people we booked 2 rooms in this hostel (one 6-room and one 2-room ). Everyone was pleasant surprised. Pro's - Nice bar with cheap good beer - Breakfast was fine ( 5 euro's ) - Clean and a good looking place - Friendly staff - The overall price was pretty good: around 14 euro's...

This hostel was lovely! The lobby was quite a sight. The staff were very friendly and accommodating (you can store your luggage for free). The beds and bathroom were clean and comfortable and overall, it was a nice stay!

Just a short overview for travellers considering staying at Singer 109. (Just got back from Berlin; we stayed in a double room for 4 nights). Positives: + Very good location, close to public transport links and within walking distance of Alexanderplatz. + Nice design and generously sized rooms. + Basic but decent breakfast for an additional €5 per person. Negatives:...

This hostel was very clean and quiet. Despite a bar downstairs, there was minimal noise in the rooms. It was also a very pretty building to stay in, and secure, with two keycard swipes to get to your room, and lockers in the rooms. It was very hot in summer. However, it's not a 'party' hostel, and I did find...

Great cheap hostel to stay in. The place was spotless. The staff were very friendly, atmosphere was just a bit too quiet for a youth hostel for a weekend and slightly out of town. Not too much of a problem as taxis are very cheap. Would highly recommend.

For a youth hostel it is very good. But the food was very poor and the staff were not friendly but overall clean and met our needs. Great central location. The pillowcases could be improved as they were more like a sack though...

I stayed at the Singer109 hostel together with 3 friends in June. We had a private 4-bed room which was really modern and clean, the only negative thing being that the room was extremely warm! We only stayed for 2 nights which made it bearable but a longer stay without a fan would have been difficult. The breakfast was really...

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
