It's a 600 year old hotel, with some quirkiness but also comfortable. There was a festival going on so we kind of rushed through check-in to get to it, and then the excellent night watchman's tour (the right combo of funny and informative). We had to go up some stairs, though a covered outdoor walkway, back inside, around a corner,...

This family run hotel inside of the walled city was a great value with wonderful service. The rooms were small with no TV or radio, but why would you want to spend any time in your room in this great city? They have bikes to borrow or rent to ride around town and have a full service breakfast (complementary) and...

We stayed for two nights. The guest house gave us a room on the third floor, The room was huge and spotless. Large bathroom, separate toilet, a dining table - so much space. We felt like we were at home. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Everything was spotless. Huge breakfasts. Great location in the heart of Rothenburg - a...

This Gasthof was a wonderful place to stay for our three days in Rothenberg. It is in a quaint,600 year old building with the creaks and groans you would expect, but that just adds to the character of the place. Located right off the main market square in the heart of the city, it is an excellent base for exploring...

My husband and I stayed here in September, 2008. The location is terrific, the owners go out of their way to help you--plus the rooms are nice and the food is great. We are planning to go back in September 2010 and we will definitely stay there again. This was my first trip to Germany and I fell in love...

Visiting Rothenburg ob der Tauber was a much anticipated highlight of our 6 week trip to Europe. We wanted our accommodation to add to the sense of history for us, be central inside the walled city, have parking and fit our budget. Gasthof goldener Greifen was just perfect. Our room was quaint and cosy and over-looked the town square. The...

This review is a little overdue, since my partner and I stayed here in September, during a two-week tour of Germany and Austria. Thanks to the advice posted on Trip Advisor, we had wonderful stays in almost every town and city where we stopped, but the Gasthof Goldener Greifen stands out in my mind for several reasons. First, this hotel...

Great location and hotel. Was clean and warm during winter. Restaurant was good, during the heavy tourist time would probably be worthwhile to get reservations. Breakfast was a standard German breakfast but had made to order cooked eggs. Not buffet style but served at your table. Lack of in hotel parking, so don't bet on using this.

My husband and I stayed at the Goldener Greifen this past summer. We stayed in a room facing the main street; the rooms are big and airy with lots of old time character. We recommend to eat in the restaurant, the food is delicious (have the bbqued chicken!), also the breakfast they give you is great. The location is great,...

If you are in Rothenburg it's probably because you are into history. This hotel is 600 years old and was once the Mayor's home. It is situated right on the Marktplatz so is very handy if you want to take a break during the day. We are a family with two teenagers and found ourselves in a room on the...
