We stayed at the hotel/café Altreuter for a week in June, and recommend it highly. Our room was large and comfortable, the housekeeping was efficient and friendly, and breakfast in the café downstairs was excellent. Incidentally, its cakes are also delicious. The hotel is next to the impressive town church, and both the church clock and the Town Hall clock...

Surprisingly the only place we could find that would open on a Sunday night in summer. OK standard comfortable German hotel in an ancient building with a good bathroom. Good breakfast (included in room price) in the old inn dining room. But the Altreuter's central position, right next to the church in the centre of Nördlingen, is also its downfall...

My friends and I spent one night at this little hotel, perhaps more a cafe bar with some accommodation attached. It is located adjacent to the magnificent cathedral, which is at present undergoing restoration. Although a single, my room was a double and quite stylish and charming, looking out to the terrace and street below. The bathroom was small and...

My husband made reservations for Altreuter several weeks before our arrival in Germany, and they didn't even ask for a credit card number for a deposit. We reserved two rooms for the 7 of us. (3 kids) Once we arrived, they were super busy in the cafe, so the gal just handed us our keys to our rooms, still not...

Right across from the church and on the market square, all the main sights are within easy walking distance. Staff was friendly and welcoming, and spoke enough English. They really went out of their way to take care of my needs. Room and bath were modern, and well equipped. Hotel restaurant was open all afternoon but closed for dinner. Breakfast...

My husband and I stayed here for a night at te beginning of September. We had not planned where we would stay - we just saw the sign outside the cafe and decided to give it a try. We had a room on the top floor (2 flights of stairs), which was a corner room, so it had windows facing...

Coming from Canada we really enjoyed the "breakfast included" along with our clean comfortable room. My husband had Kaffee Portion in a vintage Kanne from 1962 which was just beautiful along with his order of Bretzel mit Wurst. I appreciated the nice buffet along with a good size teapot. The staff was cordial. We love German hospitality.

My husband and I were travelling the Romantic Road and decided to stay in Nordlingen for a night. The hotel is situated above a modern looking cafe, in the centre of town. We had a large room on the 2nd floor directly facing St George's church. Room was clean, simply furnished, and comfortable but we think that the heater was...

Nordlingen, town created on the crater is a small pretty town wth red german houses. Altreuter is located in front of the St. George's church at the Market square (Marktplatz). The hotel is convenient place to stay to walk around the town. The room is clean, reasonable size and we could have a small balcony, where we sat and have...

“Our rooms were on the third floor. Be ready to climb the stairs with your luggage. No elevator. Both our rooms were at the end of the hall and very quiet. Except for the town criers, which we enjoyed.”

“After visiting München we enjoyed the quiet little medieval Nördlingen. One note though, we finally figured out how to open the rouladen window cover in our roof level room. There is a long rod that bends into a winder.”
