The hotel is conveniently located along Bahnhofstraße, right opposite the main central station. The central station also acts as a hub for the metro system; all lines, including U2 going to the airport, go through it. Walking distance to the Castle is about 20 minutes. It was far enough from Christmas Markets crowds but close enough for leisurely walk to get there.

The lobby is relatively small, with limited seating. One lift services the whole hotel so it can be rather slow, especially if Viking Cruise groups are around.

Our suite was overlooking Königstorgraben street with the side view of the famous Handwerkerhof right across. It was spacious and well appointed although the curtains did let in quite a lot of light. There was a large wardrobe and plenty of comfortable seating. There was good lighting in the room, including overhead, a rarity in hotels these days. The bed was huge and comfortable.

Bottled water was replenished daily.

The bathroom was of standard size with a capacious bathtub and shower. Soap bars were provided. Bathrobes and slippers were supplied.

There was a safe box, a fridge and WiFi quality was good. English-speaking channels on TV were only showing the news.

We didn’t dine at the hotel as the buffet menu was quite limited, somehow at odds with the opulent décor. The wine selection at the bar was rather restricted.

Breakfast was plentiful and of good quality with plenty of fruit. If you like to binge in the morning before hitting the town it provides good value for money.

Reception was friendly and helpful although they could do with better coordination/record-keeping as arrangements made with one person at one time were then queried by another later on. There was no concierge.

This hotel has a lot of history and has a great location across the street from the train station. You can easily walk 10-15 minutes to the old town and there is a super market in the train station for any essentials you need. Breakfast was a great buffet complete with Nuremburg sausage and a Nutella machine.

This hotel is used by Viking river cruises so expect large groups trying to check in and out at certain times. I also suggest declining any upgrades to the lower floor rooms with the views in favor of quieter rooms further back in the hotel since the street is quite noisy.

The hotel was nice and the room was adequate, but parking was ridiculous! They advertise that they have parking onsite, but you have to reserve and pay for it ahead of time (yet this is not mentioned when reserving a room). I had to park 3 blocks down the street and around the corner and had to feed the meter.

Le Meridien Grand Hotel is less than grand. Their Marriott website oversells this property. Viking Cruises chose this hotel for the extension of their Christmas on the Danube cruise. It is on a busy multi-lane expressway/streetcar hub across from the train station. Walking behind the hotel gets you to a pedestrian mall and eventually to the main city square and the Christmas Market.

There is one tiny elevator. Slow even by European standards. Wide staircase nearby. Hallways are dimly lit. The buffet breakfast in the bar area has the usual eggs, meat, vegetables, breads and cheeses. The yogurt was especially gritty. However, breakfast came with a selection of dessert squares. Very good.

My room #209 was “refurbished” and was what they charmingly described as a “petit single”. More appropriately, a “dark cell”. When I entered, there was no heat, so I jacked up the radiator and shoved the drapes to the side. It took forever for my little high ceiling square box to warm up. It overlooked that expressway/streetcar hub/railway station and contained two narrow twin beds, three low squatty chairs and a black carpet. This was complemented by black doors, black closets, black desk and black wall panel. Grim. The room had three small lights. Surprisingly there was no sight of their advertised “LM 100 artist Nick Dine” bed or “marble bathroom”!

Thankfully, the bathroom was a blast of white light. But to get there and the entranceway was a step. It had been modified by a piece of wood (black) angled to make a slope so occupants would not trip as many probably had previously. When bags were collected for the ongoing extension to Prague, staff did not see my bag beside room #209 and after luggage ID they had to go back and get it. Told you the place was dark.

This is not a room Le Meridien provides to the list of “international luminaries” they claim stayed at this hotel. Since Viking contracts with Marriott for land accommodation, they should have chosen Marriott’s Sheraton Carlton Hotel on a side street in the same area with bright rooms, responsive elevators plus a ‘wellness area’ and rooftop terrace with great city views. But they did not. Pity.

I booked the king deluxe bed room around a month before and even wrote to them a week before about my room. Once me and my colleague arrive they tell me it's overbooked only for me (my colleague booked a few days after me) and they kept telling me to go to the bar and have a drink instead of solving my issue witht he room. After a while they said they can give me the same type of room at the hotel next door (Plaza hotel) but once I arrived at the room it was small and standard room. They didn't even try to apologize for the inconvenience also, they said that the room I booked had no breakfast included (all the hotels that are booked through the company I work with has breakfast included). And I thought that the least they could do after overbooking my room and give me a standard room to offer me free breakfast but no.... after my stay I contacted them because the room I got was cheaper than the one I'd booked and had too pay for but they haven't given me a reply even though 3 weeks has passed and I've also reminded them to give me a reply regarding my email. Will never book room at this hotel again. Worst service I've ever encountered!!

My stay at Le Méridien in Nuremberg was an absolute nightmare. Despite informing the hotel of my early departure date both before check-in and at check-in, they still charged me for a night I couldn’t use. The management was completely unhelpful and refused to make any adjustments, even though I am a Marriott Rewards member and a frequent guest when traveling to Germany.

The staff and leadership were beyond rude, showing no regard for customer service. The breakfast was atrocious with overcooked food, and the hotel room was extremely worn and outdated. Everything in this hotel is overpriced, and they don’t care about their patrons, only the money they can gouge out of them. While I could overlook some of these issues, the fact that they refused to honor my early departure and forced me to pay an exorbitant room rate for a night I didn’t stay is downright unethical.

DO NOT STAY HERE—there are other fine hotels in town which are much more accommodating and go out of their way to ensure you have a pleasant stay.

I will be escalating this matter to Marriott and my company’s travel agency. I strongly advise against staying at this hotel. Save yourself the trouble and book elsewhere!

I stayed here few times before and I enjoyed the location, the nice room I was given and the breakfast option. Well this time I was not pleased from the time I checked in. The front desk person was very rude and not helpful. I had 8 night booked but at check in I told her I will most likely check out Friday 3 night before, she said I will have to pay 90% early departure penalty. I never encountered this at all my 27 years staying at many hotels around the world. People have emergencies and change in plans. With me I was going to Prague and will stay at Marriott hotel so the spend will stay with Marriott these guys did not care. They wanted to charge me 38 euro for breakfast which is outrageous expensive. As a gold member I should have been provided free or discounted price. I asked them if I can prepay for only couple of days. They said no either the whole stay or just pay 38 euro each time I have breakfast.

These guys lost me for ever and will not recommend any of my team members coming to Nuremberg to stay here anymore. What really also bothered me is their staff rudeness and not willing to listen to my complaints and point of view. Not to mention the room was given this time was too small with no view…

Stay away from this place. I wish I stayed all week at the Sheraton across the street. Big big difference with everything.

A very old hotel, great location but that's where it ends unfortunately.

When we arrived we were offered a free upgrade, we were looking forward to the "room", when we arrived we were disappointed, a dark broom cupboard and somehow very loud, we wanted to close the window but it was already closed but unfortunately it was completely leaky.

The bathroom was probably 30 years old and smelled like it.

It doesn't matter, it's only one night, we were looking forward to Nuremberg and its old town and that was great.

But first we have to park the car, unfortunately the parking garage is opposite in the train station, oh well, parking costs €20, if the hotel takes over the parking (i.e. taking the car away once) it costs €40, now that's some service :-)

Anyway, it doesn't matter, off to the city.

Great old town, delicious food and great prices.

Then back to the hotel and a nightcap in the bar, the atmosphere was very nice, the pianist was great but unfortunately two songs later it was already closing time. Well then we went to the "room" and unfortunately the disappointment was back.
The TV turned on and...... What is that, the picture is flickering the whole time, OK, close your eyes and go to sleep.
6:00 a.m. We jumped up and were shocked at the noise, trams and cars outside the door, oh yes, the leaky window, then a banging noise in the hotel, a catastrophe.
Breakfast was below average, the lady at the Omlet station didn't feel like it and was very unfriendly........
So that was it, we will definitely never come back here.
Oh yes, one more little joke at the end in the minibar in the room
A water €6.50 and a bar of chocolate 70g for €8.00, a gingerbread was also lying around and should have cost €5.00.
Thank you very much for this experience, we have never experienced anything like it ;-)

This hotel sits just outside the old town walls as well as across from the railway station and the underground and trams that will take you all over the area. Very attentive staff and great buffet breakfast. The hotel itself has alot of history and even as old as the hotel is you wouldn't know it by stepping inside. We had a room facing the street several floors up but the traffic below was not a problem. If you need laundry done it is a send out service that the hotel provides and they are very prompt. Small business center off the hotel lobby.

So much to like about this hotel!

Location is across the street from main train station so very very easy to access. Here for the Christmas Markets as I am? You have a 10 minute walk to the start of the incomparable Nuremberg Markets. Exploring the old walls of Nuremberg, that starts right across the street.

Room is very nice with a great bed and large TVs on the wall. Classic and shiny fixtures in the bath,

Breakfast buffet was well above expectations with lots of fruit choices, freshly cooked eggs, meats in abundance.

Very enjoyable stay in this classic hotel. Wifi very fast, excellent value for the price paid.

cheapest option : take the subway from the Airport -U2 if I recall it right, but you will find it at the airport - and get of at Hauptbanhof (Nuremberg Central Train Station) from there you just cross the street and you are at "the Meridien". You can take a cab from the airport - it was 21 Euro when I was going from the "Meridien" to the airport. In regards to the cruise ship - well you need to ask the company you booked the cruise or at the hotel - have no idea what it would be. hope it helps.
