This is a great location - right near the train station and the old walled city. Carpeting in hall and rooms seemed to be a little old and worn. Cleaning staff was washing bathroom floor with a rag. Seemed old fashioned and not necessarily sanitary. Just seemed to need a little refresh.

Stayed one night to visit the Christmas Markets. It has a very old history and style. Location across the street from the Train Station and close walk to Old town makes the location very good . You will get some street noise but you are in the heart of the city Room was very nice with a street view. Large king with sofa and two sinks I. The bath room

The hotel is conveniently located along Bahnhofstraße, right opposite the main central station. The central station also acts as a hub for the metro system; all lines, including U2 going to the airport, go through it. Walking distance to the Castle is about 20 minutes. It was far enough from Christmas Markets crowds but close enough for leisurely walk to get there. The lobby is relatively small, with limited seating. One lift services the whole hotel so it can be rather slow, especially if Viking Cruise groups are around. Our suite was overlooking Königstorgraben street with the side view of the famous Handwerkerhof right across. It was spacious and well appointed although the curtains did let in quite a lot of light. There was a large wardrobe and plenty of comfortable seating. There was good lighting in the room, including overhead, a rarity in hotels these days. The bed was huge and comfortable. Bottled water was replenished daily. The bathroom was of standard size with a capacious bathtub and shower. Soap bars were provided. Bathrobes and slippers were supplied. There was a safe box, a fridge and WiFi quality was good. English-speaking channels on TV were only showing the news. We didn’t dine at the hotel as the buffet menu was quite limited, somehow at odds with the opulent décor. The wine selection at the bar was rather restricted. Breakfast was plentiful and of good quality with plenty of fruit. If you like to binge in the morning before hitting the town it provides good value for money. Reception was friendly and helpful although they could do with better coordination/record-keeping as arrangements made with one person at one time were then queried by another later on. There was no concierge.

The “OG” of hotels in Nürnberg and the interior feels like it. Lots of marble and wood in the reception. Elevators are super modern and fast, with the traditional wooden swing door for the “OG” feel. Great location next to the Nurnberg Old Town and opposite the main Railway station. Rooms in hotels of these age tend to be smaller. But still comfortable for a short stay. The bathroom appeared to have been updated more recently. The corridors are painted in dark green with dim lights, for the gothic feel. Some of the paintings in the staircase adds to the dark appeal too. Breakfast had a good spread of choices. The low ceiling of the dining room however meant that invariably clothing will smell of the cooking, from the egg/omelette station. Stay here for the OG experience.

Response from Front Office, Guest Services / Front Office at Le Meridien Grand Hotel Nuremberg
Responded 4 Nov 2023
Dear Steven, Your detailed review about your stay at Hotel Le Meridien Grand Hotel is highly appreciated. It's heartening to know that you enjoyed the amalgamation of classic and modern interiors, our strategic location, and the breakfast spread. Your appreciation of the 'OG' feel and the gothic touch to the corridors truly captures the essence of our hotel's unique character. We're also glad that you found the room comfortable and appreciated the updated bathroom. As for the low ceiling in the dining room and the subsequent smell, we understand how it might have been a bit bothersome. It's part of our hotel's authentic architecture, and we ensure the utmost cleanliness to maintain a pleasant atmosphere. Your recommendation for the 'OG experience' is truly rewarding. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Kind Regards. Meysam Mohammadi Assistant Front Office Manager

This was a great hotel. We were there as part of a Viking River cruise extension. The location is fantastic. It sits right on the edge of Old Town. (just walk out the front door and take a right). We enjoyed all that Old Town had to offer with the convenience of this hotel. Rooms were clean with comfy beds. We were tired on arrival, so we had dinner at the hotel restaurant. It was delicious. The train station is right across the street. There's a tram that runs directly in from the of the hotel. Breakfast was very nice with a wide variety of things to eat. The air conditioner in the room was top notch. I would definitely stay there again.

This is an elegant old-style hotel, a "Grand Old Lady" across from the Bahnhof. We got the elegant treatment as well, large room, comfortable bed, and a breakfast with quite a variety of offerings. It was a wonderful visit. (Look for the display of old hotel keys with the heavy fobs, I haven't seen those in decades and of course they all use electronic keys now.)

Excellent service. Lovely staff. Menu about 6 fancy toasties with chips. Carbohydrate overload. Plain boring. All cost about 25 Euro. Opposite the main railway station. A few steps so not wheelchair accessible. Was so shocked at the Limited menu.

Old world charm, steps away from the Altstadt, and next to the Hauptbanhof. You could not find a more convenient hotel in Nuremberg! Luxurious rest for your German travels. Breakfast is delicious, cocktails are even better!
