Lovely quaint restaurant in the centre of this gorgeous town. I ordered venison goulash and it was delicious. They serve good beer (of course, you're in Bavaria), and I was quite impressed with the waiter, that managed to get everyone's orders correctly (we were a group of loud 13 people who took a while to decide on what to eat...

My husband, parents, and I stayed here over the Christmas holiday. It was a charming hotel centrally located in an enchanting town. The rooms were comfortable and the history of the building made it all the better! The breakfast was very nice. To the travelers visiting over the holidays, we felt slightly pressured to make reservations for Christmas Eve dinner--...

The hotel was nice, but the breakfast buffet was questionable since they served the earlybirds whatever, but later guests did not have the same amount of food selection. It was centrally located in town. What a marvelous town this was. It is so quaint!

Nice roadside outside terrace protected by large umbrellas....a better menu than some of the other places we looked at...reasonably priced and attentive service. Very good goulash soup, seasonal asparagus OK but not the best, but the smoked ham with it was excellent .

The service here was pretty typical for Germany - not in too big of a hurry. The food was reasonably tasty and affordable, and we very much enjoyed having a couple glasses of beer outside in the sunshine in a charming part of the town. Note: I ate here only, so this is only a review of the restaurant.

Stayed here for 4 nights in Feb 2016. The hotel was fine, comfy bed, clean room, decent location ... but why oh why close at 21:00 at night ?? Some of the staff were quite surly, even bordering on down-right rude when we tried to get 'one more beer'. In fact, the whole town seems like it's in a 17th...

The hotel is about a ten minuet walk from the station, over the river and the first MAIN road on the left. The hotel is a traditional building of alpine design with paintings on the walls, The staff all spoke English and were all very helpful. My room (224) had everything and had a view of the main square. Dinner...

We have been staying at this hotel for approximately 15 years and have enjoyed every visit to the Post. The breakfast is always great and the dinners are even better. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Oberammergau.

We had a reservation in another hotel that was cancelled by the hotel. So we were stranded after traveling for a day. Clearly upset, we stumbled into the Alte Post and it was such a refreshing experience. The staff set us up with 2 rooms and we had a little sitting area right outside our rooms. The rooms were clean...

This hotel was a first hotel I was staying in. After more than 20 trips to Oberammergau I can say this is one of the best hotel. Unfortunately I couldn't say the same about restaurant but anyway I love this oldest hotel and glad that it runs by one family more than 100 years.
