We loved Hotel Bavaria. Lovely room with a balcony, great scenery, friendly proprietors. It was a bit of a walk from the train station, but the walk back was quicker because we knew where we going. When we got to the hotel, no one was there to greet us. A young girl who lived there found someone to help us after awhile. The lady who finally arrived apologized and said she was the only one there to greet people and make up the rooms. Regardless, we got our room which was what we wanted. A problem occurred that night when a group of 9 Germans, who must have been on a guys' weekend, came in. They were drinking in the lounge right below us. We go to bed early, but we were afraid that they'd be going on into the wee hours. Not to worry, they were sent to their rooms in the other building finally. The next morning we had a fantastic breakfast with a very helpful host. He even called the ticket office at Zugspitz to make sure there were tickets available. Side note: Zugspitz is not worth it for the cost. Unfortunately, we were not told of the local pass that the hotel provides for area transportation and ended up paying for our train tickets to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Quiet night that night. The boisterous men were relegated to drinking in the garden and did not bother us. The next morning, the same helpful young man helped us with hiking options. He said our pass would give us a free chairlift ride up or down the mountain. Oops, we said; we never got the pass. Long story short, we got the pass and had a glorious hike. By the time we got to Mittenwald, we were ready for a break from traditional German food. There is a supermarket between the pedestrian downtown area and the pension. We ended up buying prepackaged salads and eating on our balcony. We picked up a couple of beers from the local brewery to drink with dinner. Good choice. I would give Hotel Bavaria 5 stars if not for the mix up with our arrival, not getting the passes when we checked in and the delayed response to the noisy German men. I'm sure your experience there will be perfect. I strongly recommend Hotel Bavaria!!

Immaculate accommodations, convenient to the autobahn. An excellent place to base a series of day trips. Saltsburg, Koenigsee, Berchtesgaden, Burghausen, Cheimsee and more are all near by. Christine is a gem. Very good breakfasts. Our four day stay could not have been nicer.

Stayed for just one night but were very impressed. The gentleman we dealt with was very friendly and helpful. It was apparent that the room we had was newly refurbished and the bathroom was large and particularly nicely redone, everything was spotless. Easy walk to the downtown area and a lovely view.

Unfortunately the place is a dump, is very unsafe ( in the event of a fire..ie we are locked in and have been given rooms in the roof which also means the shower is useless as you cant even stand up in the bath to shower. Everything is fragile and breaks , the owner jumped to conclusions that the kids broke a curtain but it was me just parting the curtain when we arrived and the crappy flimsy plastic thin rod easily fell off. Went to turn on a light and the switch broke.

I stayed here two nights with my grandson. We were warmly welcomed and the room on the street side had a great view. The facilities are clean and the service was very good. Breakfast was typical and everything was delightful. Wi fi is not included but available for a fee. Overall I am very happy to have stayed here.

Stayed 2 nights at the Pension Bavaria, received a very friendly welcome from the owner which set the tone of the stay. I had received good communications from the pension prior to our arrival and they even booked us a table at a local restaurant for our first night, good signs. The pension is spread over 2 buildings, we were in room 7 on the top floor of the second building. The room is in the gables so seemed a little cramped but had a first class balcony with a stunning view out across the valley. It also had a small kitchenette. As others have said decor is dated and a little unusual but all was very clean and did us fine. Wi-fi worked in the main building but only on our balcony, a good excuse to sit there longer! Breakfast was basic but sufficient and all in all we had no complaints. The pension is situated at one end of the village, about 15 minute walk from the railway station or take a taxi, it's not the most outwardly appealing building in a stunningly pretty village but give it a go...you won't regret it, great value too!!

Had a great stay here for two nights. Nice owner. Decent sized rooms, especially compared with those we found elsewhere. Nice big bathroom with big tub. Everything is a little dated, but it's spacious enough and our rooms had great balconies with mountain views. One significant drawback was the lack of wifi in the rooms. You have to be in the main house where breakfast is served to access the free wifi. Breakfast was your typical spread of breads and meats and cheeses with some cereals and jams thrown in. I like the location, although it is not perfectly central in this town. Just a mile or so from "the action" in Mittenwald.

Convenient locationa and an easy 10 minute walk into the centre of the picturessque tourist Alpen village of Mitterwald. Helpful owners. Free Wifi and free on site parking. Rather strange choice of colour scheme in the decorations.
