During our recent weekend in Baden-Baden, my wife and I wined and dined at a variety of places. Somehow, we always ended up back at this hotel bar, which was empty except for us. We were invited to come inside by Ingolf, who pretty much was the doorman, front desk clerk, bar tender, and a great individual to go to to for advice. His English was excellent; his professionalism unsurpassed. We typically ordered Chardonnay, but one night he made me a local drink called the Red Mill made with orange juice, red wine, and grain alcohol. It was quite strong and tasty. We would not have come back the second night, bit we enjoyed spending time with him as he went to and fro helping others at the hotel. Maybe, next time, my wife and I will stay here.
Experience starting at check in was terrible. Person on night reception spoke very poor English. Couldn’t understand him. No hotel parking. Closest parking was 100 metres & no daily maximum. 1.5 Euro/hr. Cheaper parking was 300 metres at 20 Euro daily. No valet parking. No umbrellas available to borrow - only for purchase with cash. Couldn’t be charged to room. Cost was 7.50 Euro. It was a large golf size umbrella, which was nice, but unfortunately couldn’t take it home with us. Hotels should consider charging a deposit to use the umbrella or if purchase is required, the umbrella should be travel size. Room decor was historical. Large wardrobe in room rattled every time you walked in the room. Beds weren’t made. Duvet folded & put on top of bed. Felt like a dormitory. Beds uncomfortable. Minimal toiletries in bathroom. Water in faucet not drinkable (sign posted) & no bottled water provided. Wifi kept on cutting out. And you had to go through the entire sign-on procedure to login each time. Drapes didn’t close, making it difficult to sleep when daylight came. Breakfast selection & quality was adequate but nothing special. Gluten free bread is available upon request. Staff was pleasant. Hotel doesn’t have bellmen to help with luggage. Daria at reception for check out was very nice.…
Having just stayed at a very basic property, I was excited to enjoy the historic feeling at this property. It is in a great location, walking distance to shops and restaurants. The staff was nice, the breakfast very good, but it just seemed to be missing any special touch. I had a good stay, but wasn't able to put a finger on what was missing.
The staff are very friendly and helpful and the location is excellent. The rooms are comfortable with good amenities although a kettle and tea or coffee would be welcome. The breakfast that was included was very, very good. Great selection of items and a lovely setting.
Had a two week holiday covering several locations in Germany, Baden-Baden was the last place we stayed in for four nights & this was the Hotel we stayed in. Baden-Baden is beautiful a very attractive spa town, which we enjoyed very much, sadly the hotel did not live up to our expectations. The public areas are pleasant enough our room 216 on the 2nd floor was absolutely awful, the smell was horrible, particularly in the cupboards. The room was full of moths and other bugs, the bed was horrendously uncomfortable and the room had cobwebs. The breakfast is rather basic and limited in choice. Finally although the location is fairly central in the old town it is impossible to get to by car, car parks are either expensive and reasonably close buy or reasonably priced but about a mile away and not ideal if you have luggage and the hotel do not offer to help. I would love to go back to Baden-Baden but not to this hotel. …
I had a nice room on the top floor very silent but not clean. The side tables were full of dust as well as the drawers and the floor was not clean. The bath was only cleaned twice in 2 weeks. The staff is very aggressive. It is a Russian / Ukranian owned hotel and most of the people working there are Ukranian. The breakfast looks ok at first but it is always the same and the ingredients are not good. Most of it is frozen food.
We walked in off the street and asked if they had a room. For just over €100 we got a suite with beautiful furniture, real hardwood floors, a large, beautiful bathroom and a balcony. Located right in the middle of the Fußgänger zone, with plenty of bars and restaurants around. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. We were really impressed with the hotel and would definitely stay there again.
Old hotel with the furniture in extremely bad condition which is not being properly maintained. A room was small and very badly cleaned (dust hanging on the wall like a spiderweb). No toothbrushes, bathrobes or slippers in the room (even though it's necessary for 4 stars hotel). Staff of the reception desk is highly unprofessional and rude. Due to the simple technical problem (they have charged our card but the payment was not reflected in Opera or whatever system they are using) they were trying to make us pay again, but when I rejected to give the card again a lady started to talk in a rude way and behave agressively, then her colleague asked us to move away from the reception desk because she had to talk to another guest and nobody was going to solve our problem. The inability of staff to resolve simple issues as this and the attitude they have made an impression of the cheapest hostel, not 4 stars hotel with a history and reputation.…
during our Europe trip (Amsterdam, Brussels, Baden-Baden, Gengenbach, Colmar and Paris) this was the most comfortable stay. The hotel was grande and luxurious for the price we paid. We loved the city of Baden-Baden too. This hotel was centrally located and was like a walking distance away from everything.
We stayed here with a tour group traveling with Rick Steves. The rooms were not large but very clean, some rooms the furniture was a bit warn. Loved the bathroom and the towels. Best towels on the three week vacation. The front desk help was excellent. Breakfast was marvelous and there was one young man, the wait staff who was exceptional. He did his job so well, I wish I had gotten his name. Great variety of foods and pastries as well as eggs and juices. Outside patio seating was the best. Our room faced the back instead of the street, was a bit noisy with kids and adults up until about 11pm.
