This is a cheap chalet and that's kind of what you get! The positives: location is great, right next to le Daille slopes and bus stop. Bus is the best thing about the resort, free and run reliably every 5 mins! Don't expect to ski in and ski out unless you are expert and not afraid of some serious leg-killing...

We returned today a week in La Daille. On first impressions the hotel seemed quite basic but clean and warm enough. We got some good advice about showering early (before 6pm) as hot water runs out quickly. Food was plentiful and of great standard and with good variety. They would also supply extra if needed. Also the wine went down...

Most of the problems with the Champs Avalin stem from lack of space. The tiny dining room necessitates two dinner sittings, so a 1830 dinner every other night. And because of the ridiculously early dinner, afternoon tea is removed promptly at 1700, so if you're skiing until last lifts you'll never get any cake. Or a hot shower either. Breakfast...

Stayed at Champs Avalins for a week as a group of 10. The hotel was clean, warm, friendly. The staff were great and very helpful. The food was brilliant and plentiful - thank you chef!! Yes, it could do with a but of an upgrade in one or two areas but it's a great base for a skiing holiday. No...

The staff were great, really welcoming and friendly, always on hand if needed. The food was excellent, you will never be hungry staying here! The rooms were small but comfortable. I never had a cold shower, maybe just lucky! The bar is pretty small but the service was always good and drinks reasonable price for the area. The location is...

as far as chalet holidays go, this was one of our best. The chalet itself was basic but comfortable. however the service and the quality of food certainly made up for this. We had more food than expected and the quality was brilliant. The staff were helpful, friendly and always smiling. This really helped make our holiday perfect. I read...

Not luxurious by any means and nowhere really comfortable to kick back and relax after a day on the piste. If it's spas and saunas and pools and hot tubs your after, this isn't the place for you. The rooms were basic but comfortable. The beds were a bit small for a big guy like me. Fortunately, our room was...

We have just had a wonderful stay at Champs Avalins. I agree with previous reviewers, ignore the negative ones! Yes, the hotel could do with sprucing up, the baths are somewhat bijou and time it wrong and the hot water flows slowly. However, the rooms were clean, staff always helpful and the food and wine excellent (and they provided a...

Ignore all negative reviews below as this place is more than what you'd expect from a 3 star hotel. Basic rooms which could do with a bit of work but perfectly comfortable, fab food at both breakfast and dinner and the loveliest staff - the perfect base for a ski holiday as it's basically ski in ski out and so...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In common with the rest of Val d’Isère’s La Daille area, the hotel might not win any awards for the cutest or prettiest exterior in the Alps, but as with all properties, it is the location that really counts! And that’s where the Champs Avalins really scores. You can ski back to within just 50m of the hotel, and each morning you have a choice of lifts right on hand to whisk you up the mountain. ... more   less
