We stayed late June a group of 5 motorcyclists, a bit in need of cheering up. By chance we came across the hotel L'Avrancher. We could not have been made more welcome.we were shown to our clean, well appointed rooms, Beer outside on the terrace, with nibbles, followed by a shower with plentiful hot water, a Garage to put the...

We have recently returned from skiing in Val D'Isere and stayed in a hotel for the first time, previous experience had been in catered chalets. L'Avancher made a very pleasant change. Well placed for shopping and bus route to the pistes and near enough to stagger home from the many bars of Val. The staff were very friendly and helpful...

First time staying in L'Avancher and it ticked every box..! On booking, Isobel on reception couldn't have been more helpful. She supplied the quiet, relaxing room I so needed. Sorted ski pass's, restaurant reservations, sorted ski hire queries. All with a smile and great efficiency. My room was a good size, immaculately clean, quiet & with a lovely balcony with...

Laurent, We appreciate you taking the time to leave your comment, Hotel L'Avancher opened for the first time in 1958 and was one of the first chalet-hotels in the resort. We had dinner here and thoroughly enjoyed the experience! The hotel and restaurant were well decorated and furnished. We received a very warm and sincere welcome and the most attentive service I can recall in a long time. All of the meals my party ordered were well presented and perfectly cooked. I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant.

Dear Sir, Thank you so much for taking the time to post a comment. And thank you for saying that you got what you ordered! Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The hotel L'Avancher is a wooden chalet, built in 1949 by a visionary, an ambitious construction worker for the Dam of Tignes. Signed over to Charles and Renee Kassenberg in 1958 it was immediately turned into a hotel, making it one of the oldest hotels in Val d'Isere. Their daughter Francoise, spent her childhood in this chalet, making her the natural successor. Today, Fred Monneret has taken over the reins, enhancing the authenticity and hospitality, two of the hotel's most important values. The hotel has 17 rooms, a restaurant, a living-room, a sauna, a ski workshop that turns into a mountain bike workshop in the summer. By the end of January, you can make the most of the sun on the large wooden terrace or the small garden. This chalet, full of history, is regularly renovated, allowing it to combine both authenticity and modernity. A five-minute walk from the town center and 50 meters from the bus stop, this chalet allows you to make the most of the ski resort's animations without having to endure the noisy nightlife. (See map) The slopes are five minutes away and you can ski directly back to the hotel, (depending on snow conditions at the beginning and end of season). ... more   less

“Choose a room at the rear with doors onto a large shared balcony looking out on La Face......South facing and a great space to chill after a fabulous day on the slopes. My three kids in there twenties shared a triple room. The third bed up on the mezzanine was perhaps a poor choice as my son was a little too big for the space and it became too warm - a great choice for a smaller child however, who would love to have a bed in the sky.”
