Why?
1. No obvious disabled parking spaces that we could see upon arrival.
2. The "adapted" room consisted of a single grab handle for the toilet and a single grab handle for the shower.
3. The disabled toilet in the hotel was very much the same - in fact when I was taken to the toilet the facilities were not adequate for me to transfer.
When will hotels learn that a grab handle does no equal providing facilities for the disabled.
What is needed is a minimum of 2 grab handles per facility (i.e. 2 for the toilet, 2 for the shower) and preferably hinged handles that give greater support. Toilets should not be in tight corner spaces for wheelchair users and showers should have fixed shower seats...
Negative point: a lot of noise at night, on the annex side.
Breakfast too expensive for what is offered: 22 euros per person.
The shutters and curtains in the room are not blackout, we were staying with children so got up early due to daylight and a complicated nap 🙄
Hope to see you soon !!
Staff are excellent and really friendly. Edwige in the bar is fantastic and goes above and beyond for the hotel guests.
Food menu is quite limited in the restaurant. It’s the same menu for lunch and dinner.
There is a very strict dress code for men who want to use the pool. No swimming shorts allowed. Swim trunks only (tight shorts). They sell these in the SPA shop.
Drinks are expensive. Pint of Heineken is €10 but they sell really good local beers by the bottle.
The location of the hotel is not close to Lyon. We got taxis in everyday for €20.
Be aware that NO RESTAURANTS OPEN ON SUNDAYS in Lyon
The welcome was very professional, rooms had been provided as luggage (locked when we were in meeting). Rooms for conferences very pleasant, small working rooms also.
The room was great, as well as the bathroom. Very well soundproofed. Excellent bedding.
The terrace overlooking the pool was very appreciated at the cocktail party of the evening.
The SPA offers several indoor and outdoor pools. The water in the inner pools was a little cold, but the outer pools were at perfect temperature.
High-end breakfast very complete and varied
The only downside of the stay was the caterer: not all the dishes indicated on the menus were available either on the first noon and during the cocktail party, the whole was quite bland and many of us were hungry at the end of the evening. The meal the next day was full but unfortunately unmanageable for lactose intolerant people (starter to ricotta, dish with cream).
The reception and staff are the best bit of this hotel after that it all goes downhill, Very expensive drinks, average over priced food and rooms that need cleaning and maintained properly . The light above our bed flashed on and off, the basin tap was insecure and the sink didn't drain properly. The room wasn't properly cleaned and has hairs on the carpet
The only knock on this hotel would be the restaurant, which while obviously run by a separate operator, was one of the worst I've been to in terms of service. The bar itself was fine, but the restaurant is not at all in keeping with the Metropole brand and what it stands for. If the restaurant were changed or at least had decent management, this would easily be a five star rating. Recommend not dining at the hotel restaurant, or just get Uber Eats, because the experience there was terrible. Otherwise, it's a great hotel.
The staff at the restaurant were rude. Nowhere near old Lyon, rooms are so old and outdated, no iron no fridge in the room.
Do not stay.
where it shows the complete infrastructure
available to guests when in reality NOTHING is
available if you don't pay the "SPA" rate (45 Euros
per person/day). Not even a small gym was
available!
It was also advertised the facility is completely
renovated. I don't call renovation by only adding a
layer of (sticky) painting over the sink and bath.
The parking was horrible. Full of extremely narrow
spots where drivers need to get off the car by the
passenger door.
Breakfast quality was "ok-ish".
However, staff was friendly and polite.
Unfortunately, this was one of the worst
experience I ever had for a hotel in Europe. I don't
recommend it.
