Hôtel Bayard Bellecour is frequently lauded for its impeccable cleanliness and historical charm, creating an ambiance that guests find nostalgically elegant. Nestled in a prime Lyon location, it is celebrated for offering seamless access to local attractions and dining. While the room decor is admired for its authentic antique allure, some guests have noted minor drawbacks concerning lighting and noise. The hotel's staff receives accolades for their exceptional service, and although the antique-style baths and breakfast options received mixed reviews, many find the overall experience and comfort of the beds to be of great value, despite the breakfast being considered somewhat costly by some.

I’ve traveled extensively around the world over the years, and never have I stayed in such a perfect little hotel as this. Hotel Bayard Bellecour is one of only two hotels that face Place Bellecour in the center of Lyon, so the location and view is perfect. My room (the blue prestige room) was on the third floor, overlooking the ferris wheel across the way. There is an elevator, so no worries for people with mobility issues.

First, the staff. A warmer, more authentic, and proud group of people you will never meet. Always happy and helpful, Stefania, Anais, Camilla and Pierre were always a pleasure to talk to. Charlotte, in the breakfast room, is a talented baker and a very bright, lovely young woman.

As for breakfast, lots of delicious homemade cakes, coupled with meat and cheese, breads, fruit and cereal are available. You can also order eggs any style, should you choose.

Now onto the room. I can speak only of my room, though I did peek into a couple of other rooms, and they were also beautiful, and were designed with the same aesthetic. The hotel is undergoing a major set of renovations right now, expanding the room choice, and updating existing smaller rooms so that they are in keeping with the 19th century look they are striving for. All of the antiques in the room are authentic, and my room evoked such a strong feeling of being in another era, that I could never bring myself to watch TV (hidden behind the fireplace mirror!) because it would have just spoiled the vibe of the room. Gorgeous old creaky floors, a working old fashioned telephone, stunning period fabrics, and an amazing clawfoot bathtub right in the room. I so looked forward to coming back to that space every day and night, and would like to return next time to just stay in the room for a couple of days and read some delicious 19th century literature, sipping tea by the fireplace, listening to opera, and taking long bubble baths while looking out over Place Bellecour. You’ll get what I mean once you see the elegant prestige rooms– To be so transported to another time and place and yet to be right in the center of lively Lyon….this hotel is a REAL treasure.

The rooms were beautifully decorated with lots of attention to detail. All the amenities were present but cleverly disguised to maintain the ambience. Air conditioning was a big plus, the beds are extremely comfortable and the room was clean. The hotel's location is excellent and we could easily return for a break while out and about.

Service from the staff was excellent, they were friendly and helpful. Service in English was also no problem. They even tidied the room up more than would generally be expected when they came to service it while we were out.

Breakfast is expensive but justified, everything was made in-house so it was fresh and delicious. Would recommend doing so at least once during your stay.

We stayed at Hotel Bayard Bellecour for 3 nights and I can't recommend it enough. The rooms look EXACTLY like the pictures (I feel like 9 times out of 10 the pictures look better than the real experience - here I'd almost say it's the opposite!), everything is in pristine shape, and the attention to detail to make you feel like you're stepping back in time really blew us away (everything from the themed phone, to the light switches, to hiding away the TV and climate box).

The hotel is very quiet, the curtains do a great job keeping the room dark, and the bed is comfy. You can in fact hear heavy-footed people walking in the rooms above and closing doors a bit hard, but you can't hear talking and you can't hear TVs from other rooms. However, I didn't experience any guests that were particularly loud during sleeping hours. Also despite being an older building with wooden floors, there are absolutely no squeaks or creaks in the room which is a godsend when you're trying not to disturb your partner.

The large and deep bath is incredible - highly recommend taking advantage of it.

It seems your room and the recent renovations exceeded your expectations and we are very proud of it. We stumbled upon this gem rather randomly, as our Airbnb turned out to be a disaster and we needed a place to stay that night. And what luck we had! I actually had a look at the rooms before deciding, and we decided to go with an upgraded one even though it was quite a bit pricier because they are definitely on the smaller side. But they are exquisitely designed - even the thermostate has a little velvet curtain that matches the decor. A lot of the photos are before they did a full remodel, so it is much more beautiful now! Seriously, I was taking pictures in the hopes of recreating some of the charm in my house back home.

The breakfast is superb - lots of local delicacies and everything is very, very fresh. And kitchen is beautiful The staff is very helpful and friendly. You do have to go one flight up but after that there is an elevator if your room is on a higher floor.

The location is fantastic - right in a big town square and walking distance to most of Lyon's attractions.

Bellecourt is the central square of Presqu'ile which is, in terms of shape and location, the Manhattan of Lyon. Hence, it won't be easy to find a more central place to stay if you want to explore the city.
The entire decoration of this hotel breathes the admosphere of a wealthy 19th century townhouse, from the reception, to the rooms , to the kitchen annex breakfast room. (Don't miss to at least look at the toilet near the breakfast room) We had a courtyard room without great views, but with the advantage of quiteness at night. The beds are excellent , wifi is free and fast.
Breakfast is excellent. Eggs are prepared according to your liking and the lady that manages the kitchen prepares daily a variety of delicious homemade cakes.
OK then, a couple of minor cons: the hotel is pricey an certainly 19 eu is too much for any breakfast (that is more expensive than in a 4 star hotel) and at that price you may expect freshly pressed orange juice, not from a bottle. Still: the overall picure is very positive : most hotels you forget, but this stay will leave you a lasting memory.

Hotel Bayard is a very unique and charming hotel at Place Bellecour in Lyon France. The entry does require you to complete one flight of stairs o get to the hotel front desk and the hotel elevator. I actually came to find this unique entry to be part of the hotels charm. It is in a great location for access to Place Bellecour, has a private bathroom with a private toilet, a beautiful, and good size room, will fully functioning windows and a bathtub with a shower attachment. The people were very friendly and helpful. It is a beautiful and unique boutique hotel and I would definitely stay there again if I was visiting Lyon and especially, Place Bellecour.

fantastic hotel in an excellent location. The room was large, comfortable and beautifully decorated with great details that we really appreciated. Since it faced the backyard it was very quiet (#25). The entire staff did an excellent job. Everyone was very helpful and pleasant. However, I would like to particularly praise the housekeeper who made sure every day that the room was spotless when we returned from our excursion. We enjoyed every minute of the five days we stayed at the Hotel Bayard Bellecour. We would love to come back.

The hotel is located on Place Bellecour, in the middle of Lyon, with everything within walking distance. Really good location. The entry is unassuming, inside the hotel is on the first floor.

The style of the hotel is really not what we usually go for, certainly be aware of the old style of thus hotel. Nonetheless, the room is typical for a french city hotel, small but fine.

Reception was very friendly, we were able to store our bikes on the stairs on the first floor inside the hotel, which was much appreciated. Breakfast was also quite a good buffett.

If you are looking for a centrally located, friendly hotel and do not mind the old style and the small rooms, the Bayard is a good choice.

We arrived at the hotel around 4pm, and was met by a wonderful receptionist, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is a hidden gem, very authentic French, and ideally placed to access the rivers, shops, restaurants and sight’s. You feel like you are stepping back into the 1920’s, the rooms and hallways exude art deco glamour. We had a large double bed in our room with windows over looking a court yard, the quietness was lovely. The decor in the room was fantastic, from beautiful wallpaper and drapes/curtains, to the Marino glass chandelier. The bath and sink were part of the main room, with a separate WC. We prefer a proper stand along shower, but this looked great and served a purpose. No TV in the room, it would spoil the decor, so we watched a film on a laptop. The bed is extremely comfortable, the linen also of great quality. The breakfast room was like stepping back into time, and we felt that food choice for us at least was limited, but nevertheless worth the €19 per head. We would definitely stay again.

We only stayed here for the one night on our way from the UK to Lake Garda but we will definitely be back for a longer stay in the future. Everything about this hotel was excellent; from the warm welcome we received from staff, to the beautiful room, we could not have asked for a better experience. Do not be put off by the on-street presence of the building; you enter the hotel via a door between two other businesses and then go upstairs to reception. Everything about the building and decor is charming. Do not arrive expecting bright white LED lights, or modern architectural shadow-gaps; this is a traditional hotel with a very bohemian style. Everything is spotlessly clean, well maintained, and has been perfectly considered. Our room was spacious and very comfortable and nothing was too much trouble for the hotel staff. Breakfast was fresh and delicious.
This was our first visit to Lyon but we loved it; the hotel is in an excellent location for exploring and an easy walk from Lyon Perrache train station. If you require a taxi use Uber as the taxi firms seem to stick to the airport like glue and it’s almost impossible to book one from the city centre. We ate dinner at ‘Nosch’ which was a short walk from the hotel; the food and wine here were excellent.
