In a splendid setting between the Rhone and the Saone, in the most prestigious district of Lyon, a few steps from Place Bellecour and the Grand Hotel-Dieu, a majestic 19th century building, expertly renovated, is intended to become one of the most luxurious 5 stars hotel of Lyon. Let yourself be enchanted by the view from your room overlooking the Rhone or relax, while tasting a “ristretto coffee” in the luxurious Grand Salon, created in the former winter garden surmounted by a panoramic glass roof. The peculiarity of the Luxury Hotel Boscolo Lyon consists in the delicate balance between the splendor of the Haussmann’ architecture and the loveliness of the atmospheres created by the black marble, Vicenza stone, sophisticated curtains and other precious materials. Once acquired the hotel in 2002, Angelo Boscolo undertakes its metamorphosis at the end of 2018. The doors of the new Boscolo Lyon open.

The Boscolo Lyon Hotel & Spa emerges as a sophisticated retreat with an enviable riverside location, lauded for its luxurious amenities and elegant décor that create a welcoming atmosphere. While the rooms are celebrated for their modern design and spaciousness, some guests have noted challenges with room temperature and size. Service experiences have varied, with accolades for staff professionalism counterbalanced by critiques of occasional rudeness. High cleanliness standards are a consistent highlight, yet the hotel's value is questioned by those who perceive the costs as steep for the offered facilities.

Wonderful hotel. Beautiful lobby and welcoming and accommodating staff. We traveled with kids 12-7 years old, booked two rooms, this was a last minute trip so unfortunately the hotel wasn't able to provide connecting rooms but they were able to give us rooms on the same floor. My girls really liked the Petit Prince motif on the closet doors. We managed to squeeze in a quick swim at the hotel pool in the morning, lovely pool, beautiful design.
The hotel was very clean, and took the covid safety very seriously. Masks and disinfectant were available throughout the hotel, even the TV remote was put in a disinfected pouch. I would gladly return to this hotel if we ever go through Lyon again,

Great location, friendly staff, and good room size. Late check out is offered which I highly appreciated. Free water bottles and Toblerone chocolate in the minibar.
The bathroom design is not the type I like as the toilet is in a separate area from the basin with poorly fitted glass door, and it is in the centre of the room, lacking privacy and sound proofing!!.
5 stars hotel should provide slippers in every room, we had to ask for slippers and we got the foam ones used in the spa (in the picture)!!
Iron and iron table is not available in the room and you have to ask for it.
Breakfast is poor and not worth the payment. Limited options and limited amounts😏
Parking costs 40€ per day including valet. We parked in a nearby public parking fir one and a half days and we paid 40€.

Beautiful hotel and rooms. We stayed in an executive room and there was plenty of space to work and enjoy all the views of the 2e neighbourhood. Location was perfect to explore the central part of Lyon.

Breakfast buffet was great (fresh fruit, pastries, cereals/granola), not sure about the cooked food because we didn’t try it. beautiful setting. The food with room service was only ok, possibly because compared to the rest of Lyon it wasn’t as incredible, and possibly because the restaurant was undergoing renovations so it was not at full capacity.

The spa was small but manageable because we needed to book the time (preventing too many people in there at once). The floors were very slippery and my partner hit his head - I think this needs to be fixed (we were not the only ones slipping everywhere when the floor was wet).

Wonderful facade, but no follow through. The Italian restaurant was a huge disappointment, the breakfast included in the stay was minimal and anything "prepared" was tasteless. The noise on the riverside is extreme and disruptive starting at 6 AM and not ending until after midnight. The open bathroom concept is ill planned and even quite dangerous as water splashed out on to the marble floor. We had to place towels on the floor for safety-not attractive. There is absolutely no storage. Not a drawer to be found in the room for phones, computer etc. Attractive furniture put function and practicality were not a priority. May be nice for a romantic get away, but not a fun place to stay when traveling.

A magnificent Inn with attention to detail
The room was very spacious, the sanitary facilities of high quality, and as for the walls they were covered with a quilted fabric to have a better soundproofing. The staff is attentive, both at the reception and at the restaurant for lunch which is really perfect. Great luxury what. In addition, the area is beautiful and has several tourist attractions. In addition, two metro lines are within walking distance. I will return without hesitation on my next trip to Lyon

The room was very large and well decorated, oozing luxury. However, it lacked some basics: the toilet paper rolls don’t have a stand and are either in the floor or the bidet. There is no bar soap for the bidet only soap pumps in the shower, etc.
Also I would not recommend paying extra for a room with a view on the Rhône as you will see mostly trees and you will have to endure noisy traffic.
The breakfast buffet was nice but the service was inadequate because the wait staff is overwhelmed. For instance, I couldn’t even get a second cup of coffee.
The check-in staff (Paulina) was not very friendly. But our experience with the rest of the staff was very good.

Concerning the rooms (superior Rhône view):
Pleasant room and good bedding. However, it is a shame not to have a bathtub in a so-called “superior” room which remains quite expensive overall.

The SPA is very beautiful and pleasant.

The hotel's service is unfortunately not up to par when we ask for an iron which "may be sent to us in the next hour if we find one because it's a big ask". Would it be possible to make them available directly in the rooms? This does not seem inconceivable to me for a hotel of this standard.

Breakfast generally ok and pressed juices appreciated. However, there is a severe lack of choice, especially on the savory side. In addition, the service leaves something to be desired when you have to ask three times for bread when there are only three people in the room…

—> it is a pleasant and luxury hotel, notably with a pleasant spa but the service does not follow. I personally do not agree with the quality/price ratio; There are better.

If you plan to travel to Lyon in France, this hotel will surprise you with the quality of its design, its rooms and the cuisine on offer. From the moment you arrive, you'll feel like you've stepped into a place apart. I recognise the Italian touch in this establishment, which belongs to a leading Italian luxury hotel family (I've done my research !). The staff were welcoming, not "smily" but very professional which suits me very well personally. The offer is different from the 5-star hotels we are used to seeing on the market. A change of scenery is guaranteed when you stay at the Hotel Boscolo, it's a bit of Italy in Lyon.

Last weekend, we had the pleasure of passing through the Boscolo and we were impressed by several aspects:
First of all, it is not our custom to sleep in a 5-star hotel but each time we can notice the glaring difference with other hotel categories! And the Boscolo is a great 5 star!
The welcome that was reserved for us to exceed all our expectations! Indeed, we have benefited from everyone’s involvement to give us a welcome worthy of Christmas movies! Cakes, fruit plates, fruit juice, champagne, gift for Madam, in short, the incredible welcome that has been reserved for us will remain a great memory for us 2.
With our car taken care of by the hotel’s valet parking service, we were able to benefit from the services of the SPA that are equal to what we imagine discovering in this type of establishment: welcome, drinks, vaulted pool, massage service, hammam, tea, ... In short, relaxation assured
Then we were able to enjoy the services of the bar to have an aperitif in the incredible setting of the lounge.
Time to enjoy the view from the balcony of the room on Fourvière on one side and the Pencil Tower on the other, here we are ready to enjoy Lyon from an incredible position (between Bellecour and Les Cordeliers)
The night was relaxing (room totally isolated, bedding large format and high quality)
Breakfast will also remain engraved! Truffle omelette, Avocado, Mimosa cocktail... Baptiste and his team pampered us! In short, enough to give us the strength to return to real life!
This stay made us feel special and this, apart from the magnificent infrastructures (marble, statue, decoration, ...) we owe it to all the hotel services that have struggled so that we never forget these suspended moments.
Thank you to all and in particular to the heads of all the departments who managed to orchestrate this. Special thanks to Laure.
We will return to the Boscolo whenever we need to eat and feel special as only a 5-star establishment of this quality can offer you!
We highly recommend the Boscolo to anyone who wants to visit the beautiful city of Lyon in the best conditions.

Friday night booking, as a couple, arriving from Switzerland...

A welcome at 10.30pm with the staff who probably never worked in a 5-star hotel:
Who doesn't know exactly what you booked as a room;
Who gives you a phone number to check your reservation that is not yours; Who tells you that we do not have breakfasts even though you have paid them in advance; Who explains that there is an extra charge for the late check-out of 2pm when you have already paid for it.
In short the welcome and the first impression of the Boscolo = 0/5 The next morning is the pinnacle:
Arrival at 10:15 for breakfast in the dining room: it is explained that it is necessary to wait 20/25 minutes because the capacity of the refectory cannot handle all the customers during busy periods, we, school holidays, and many other customers already wait in the lobby. It’s beautiful ... We explain that we will call you but in the meantime we do not ask you if we can serve you a hot or cold drink ... You ask to have breakfast in the room and we explain that the situation “is even worse”.
Half an hour later we are taken to the refectory where of course all the plates of the buffet are already empty, no one takes care of bringing anything back, breakfast will end.
Presumably the cleanliness of the soil and the ton of food on the ground is not the priority of a staff who would be better off working elsewhere.
We'll bring you a bread basket and a bag of Lipton tea. The bread basket is 3/4 empty, surely recovered from a previous table. We ask for another basket that will arrive after 3 raises and 20 minutes. We ask to see the manager, no luck it is the young woman who serves us who is also the manager and who does not see the problem.... Then come our 2 Advocado toast. The final bouquet. Half toasted bread, bits of avocados on it as if your 10-year-old had prepared the plate; and a poached egg. 3 sprigs of unseasoned salad. I remind you that we are in a 5 star hotel and breakfast is charged 39 euros per person.
In short, it was so astonishing that we left without making a scandal.
To summarise:

Location: 5/5

Home: 1/5

Quality of restaurant service: 0/5

Breakfast: try the experience only if you want to test your couple’s resistance in times of stress in the face of an unacceptable situation.
