Rooms cold, bathrooms circa 1930, beds rickety and mattresses saggy (more back pain from beds than from snowsports!), the most rude and aggressive waiter at breakfast, desperately needs refurbishment, the list goes on...Gets away with it because of central location and ski bus at back of hotel.

We found this hotel with the help of tourist information on a very busy weekend at Chamonix. It is centrally located on the main shopping street and has a free parking lot. First room they gave us was very nice with great views overlooking the mountains, small balcony, pink wall paper, antique feel to the room were all cozy and... More

Hotel Richemond is ideally situated in the center of Chamonix and has great hosts, who speak English. It's a very old hotel, I'm sure once very grand, but is aging and the rooms are marginal by todays standards. We've stayed here on two different occasions and both times we had a lumpy bed, but still rested well. The breakfast is... More

Car park (and access by vehicle to car park via street at rear) available. Clearly old but has some character and is in fair condition. Well located with main tourist strip outside but this has some downside with noise at night if you have a forward facing room and leave windows open for fresh air flow. Ear plugs strongly recommended.... More

Stayed there just for one night and my impressions are as follows: positive: - nice staff - good location neutral?: - no tea/coffee in the room but they can make it for you in the bar; - just one towel in the bathroom but they gave me another one after I asked for it; - I can't say much about... Travelling a lot with work I spend a significant proportion of my life in hotels. The Richemond is a gem and by far the best hotel I have stayed in for work or pleasure. What makes the hotel is the staff who are exceptional in the way that they care for the clients and appear to enjoy their vocation. So... More

We stayed there one night in July. It is set back from the main pedestrian street so there was no problem at all with noise. The big, old-fashioned bathtub made for great soaking, and the high ceilings and large windows gave a feeling of spaciousness to the room. The decor is indeed somewhat dated, but it all seemed appropriate for... More

Finding Hotel Richemond in this expensive resort town was amazing. Upon arrival, my room wasn't ready (about 11:30am so I wasn't expecting it to). The lady at the reception, was amazingly helpful by instantly giving me all the tips on where to visit in the Chamonix Valley, what to see when going up to the Aiguille du Midi...etc. The hotel... Hotel is very well located in the centre of Chamonix, perfectly placed to explore the town or surrounding area. The bus stop is directly behind the hotel and as I was there for a week's skiing, without a car, this was ideal, as anyone who has skied knows, you don't want to have to walk too far lugging skis and... I arrived home yesterday with my partner after a great weeks stay at the Hotel Richemond and feel I need to recommend the hotel to anyone looking to stay in the Chamonix resort.
