Detailed Reviews
Stayed here for a couple of days for our mini moon following our wedding in Bordeaux earlier in the week. The hotel doesn’t look hugely aesthetically pleasing from the outside, but is a really lovely little hotel on the inside. The best thing without a doubt are the views, make sure you book a room facing the sea so you can make the most of these, the beautiful sunsets and the many sailing boats. We paid extra to have breakfast included, not mind blowing but a fairly standard continental affair, meats / cheeses / pastries etc. Rooms are no frills but perfectly pleasant, comfy super king bed, modern bathroom with a decent shower, the toilet is separate to the rest of the bathroom, which I found a bit strange but it was fine. We drove up from Bordeaux to La Rochelle so the free & secure parking in the garage underneath the hotel was a big plus. As an FYI the hotel also offers complimentary usage of their dozen or so bicycles, which we made the most of during our stay to explore the Isle of Rhe, which was great! Location is good too, it’s around a 15 minute stroll to get into the centre of La Rochelle.

From the word go, the team at Hotel Les Brises could not have been more helpful and supportive.
Our fifth floor room overlooking the sea was very comfortable and quite roomy and even in late October we were able to make use of the balcony to soak up some sun!
The views were gorgeous and we passed some very pleasant time watching the yachts leaving the marina across the water, watching the tides and, from inside, the storm that hit whilst we there. The hotel was so tranquil, the only sound being the gentle and relaxing sound of the waves.
Breakfast was very good with lovely pastries and bread plus a good selection of cheeses, meats etc. Also a good range of jams.
There really was nothing to find fault with and our thanks go to everyone at the Hotel who did everything needed to make our stay so lovely.

This hotel is wonderful! It touches the ocean!
We picked the King Premium room with balcony. The view is stunning and you feel like you’re sitting in the water. The balcony is the perfect size with provided bistro table and two chairs. We loved lying in bed with the drapes open and looking at the water. Truly magical.
The room was perfectly clean and comfortable. The bedding is very nice. The shower pressure was awesome. It even has a rain shower overhead if you like that feature. The warm towels were a nice touch.
The breakfast was excellent and included hard boiled eggs (or you could poach your own), sliced meats and cheese, fresh fruits, cereals, croissants and over 7 different jams and honey. They also had two coffee machines and hot water for tea. The fresh Orange juice is also very good.
The receptionist speaks perfect English. She is very friendly and helpful. She gave us the excellent suggestion of taking a walk along the water, on the promenade, to the beach and port. It was a wonderful walk along the ocean. It took roughly 20 minutes to reach the small rocky beach.
The next time we are in town, we will for sure stay in this beautiful hotel.

Very nice place on great location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast is ok and bar service at terrace is nice and friendly. Plenty of parking. Seaside rooms have great view and are quite large - and pricy…rooms at the back are ok , smaller but newly decorated and well priced.

First holiday post-pandemic and we chose to come back to our favourite place. We’ve stayed at Les Brises 5 or 6 times and it is consistently good. It’s a family owned hotel and still has that personal touch. We always have a room with a sea view and love watching the little flotilla of kids learning to sail. Breakfast on the terrace is fab. Some May bemoan the lack of cooked breakfast, but continental suits us. Lots of fresh croissants and pain au raisin/chocolate ham and cheese, selection of jams and fresh fruit and of course gorgeous coffee. It’s a 15/20 minute walk into La Rochelle, but it’s a nice stroll for a meal when you’ve been cycling all day. We love it. We will be back next year.

+1
My wife and I stayed here for one night on our three week tour of France. To my shock, I came to check in and was a day early. I double-checked my paperwork and the desk clerk was right. My wife and I somehow got a day ahead of ourselves. Despite having made my booking on Booking.com, Léonie was able to shift it a day, but I had to take a seaview room as that was all there was. Sure, it was a little more money, but it was well worth it. I cannot believe this place rates only three stars. In addition to Léonie being super helpful, she also made some great recommendations on what to do, where to dine, etc. The room itself was spacious with a rainshower, refrigerator, safe, and a lovely balcony with that sea view. Parking was also very easy with underground and outside options. We enjoyed a glass of wine on the panoramic terrace before heading into town for dinner. The breakfast buffet was more than adequate with lots of coffee options. All in all, what could have been a frustrating experience, was not. Everything far surpassed my expectations. Please thank Léonie from both of us!

Booked a premium queen room on the top floor. Very clean, comfortable and just upgraded. Looked exactly as described in their website. Balcony overlooks the terrace and sea. The tide comes right up to the terrace and there is a path at the side to go down to the water. Room made up every day, fresh towels and toiletries too. Much better than the 3* rating. We didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on that as we like to go to town to a bakery each day. It is about 15 minutes to town but a flat walk and as we walk a lot that isn’t an issue. Parking available at a small cost too. Would definitely return

Our room was completely renewed, very clean with a balcony and a very nice view on the ocean. The hotel is very quiet, near a park and next to the center with easy parking. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. We loved this hotel and had a wonderful stay.

No they don’t
Mine did not have air con
Yes, Excelent parking both outside and underground - though we only needed the outside parking during our visit May 2016.
You can...click on the drop down arrow to the right of the rooms/guests (after the to/from dates) and click + to add a further room.
Know nothing about the taxi's - though I am sure the hotel can arrange one. We drove into the town no more than 10 minutes and parked at Parking Saint Jean d'Acre near the Tour de la Lanterne and Tour de la Chaîne. The bus does stop near the hotel and the local Yelo bus website is very helpful with maps, timetables etc.
