The breakfast. Which soured an otherwise good visit. The hotel is clean, and nicely furnished, in a great location of Angouleme near the market and the food was good. But the breakfast, and the breakfast staff very nearly ruined it. Sadly being allergic to milk did not warrant any further discussion for the apathetic waiter. It was clearly my fault...

The hotel is modern and clean, the staff are helpful and most speak English if required. The Hotel is ideally placed in the centre of town. It is a 1 min walk to a number of bars and restaurants. There are at least 20 places to eat within a very short walk. The rooms are as you would expect for...

I know Mercure is a chain BUT this hotel is different - in a beautiful old building and lovely spacious quiet rooms. There is a great bar in the lobby and a special list of cognac based cocktails - do try some. The restaurant is terrific with regional food and well priced and you can choose to eat inside or...

This was a pit stop on my way to the South of France. The hotel is nicely decorated and the rooms were clean and modern. Outside eating area was nice too and the view of the courtyard and beyond from the room was lovely. The hotel has safe underground and private parking which was a bonus.

Location - very good because the hotel is in the center of lovely Angouleme, it is just perfect. But, if you are arriving by train, have a lot of luggage or are not fit, by all means, get some kind of transportation to get to the hotel or center of town. Going uphill is not easy, unless you are used...

The hotel is nicely located close to bars, restaurants and walking distance from train station. Rooms are good sized but beds are hard as rock so therefore not 5 stars. Breakfast is ok with a limited selection for hot food. Friendly staff and good service. Parking in the cellar of the hotel is a big + if you are arriving...

Personally I struggle to justify paying £200 for a room per night, even if it is a family room for 4 people on a bed and sofa bed. The room was nice and the bathroom had a whirlpool bath - would have been useful if we could use it though as the tap didn't work and the bath would hold...

Our family had a lovely time staying at this hotel in Angouleme in the summer. It is well located for sightseeing, shopping and eating , although the food at the hotel was lovely. The staff are always helpful, especially Beatrice who just couldn't do enough!

This was a lovely spot to be in- right at the top of the two near the Halles (and we did see the market as we left). There is a good choice of restaurants and the river walk far below was great. Room was small but clean and neat. The breakfast was amazing- nothing you could want that wasn't there....

From the outside it does not impress, but our superior room was huge, discreetly decorated and lighted, with all the amenities expected. Very good bed and bathroom. Easy parking. People who complained about the tight space in the parking should do some training in the London NCP car parks. The breakfast was mediocre and expensive for what was offered.
