Next to the Palais de Justice from which it takes its name, I chose to stay here again after a previous visit left me with a feeling for its decor, and the overall experience of staying here, which includes the view of the cathedral, the walks along the banks of the Charente through the woods, and also the hotel shop,... The hotel is in the center of Angouleme, next to the courthouse, and very close to restaurants, bars, and nightlife. The bedding could have been better (larger bed, softer mattress), and the soundproofing could be much better definitely; the room smelled a little bit fusty. The staff is very helpful and friendly; we booked an economy room and got a... More

My husband and I stayed there two nights in August. The location was great. We were happy with the service. Friendly staff, they went the extra mile helping us out when our car broke down unexpectedly.

I just checked out of the Hotel du Palais and already I miss it. We stopped off in sunny Angouleme (34C) with a hope of finding some of the "old french charm" that driving the N10 used to provide and we weren't disappointed. The room in the picture I would guess is the room we had , number 103 .... More

Charming hotel staff, without exception, made all the difference to a four night stay. Room facing the square was not too noisy with a comfortable bed. Good shower room with lots of fresh towels each day. Private parking was appreciated.

I was in transit seeking a good central hotel with a quiet room for a reasonable price. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The hosts were friendly and very helpful with my arrangements and my limited French. I would stay again.

Spent a night at the Brel with a family group on our way to a barging holiday. I caught a taxi from the station which was a quick and easy trip. The people that drove said they battled to find the hotel. There was great secure parking as we didn't feel like unpacking everything from the car. I has a... More

Large room with separate toilet and separate bath - lots of space and that quite nice in order to relax and almost feel a bit like home. The decor and the funiture was far from the standard hotels so that's a huge plus in my point of view.

This was a flying visit and we needed a comfortable place to rest our weary heads after a long day, and the Hotel du Palais did well. It is in the heart of the old city and a bit difficult to find with road works and one way system. Paring in the square and secure hotel spaces. Very friendlt family... More
